Why guns and booze don't mix...

I think he was already freaked out, from the booze and drugs, and the laser sobered him up real quick!
Lucky he was armed, or he, and his family might have been next.

Interesting that you missed the part about the marijuana.

I'm old-school (iron sights) - but in this case - a grip-mounted laser served a great purpose. It freaked the suspect out.

Based on the article, now you are just making up stuff. This is the discussion about the laser. NO mention is made of the suspect's reaction to it.

Pribble said he grabbed a pistol and ran to the adjacent camp. He confronted Ashburn, who had a pistol in his hand.

Pribble pointed his pistol at Ashburn and told him to drop the weapon. He then activated a laser sight on his pistol and pointed it at Ashburn’s chest.

He then “forcibly” took the pistol from Ashburn, the affidavit says.

Sadly when folks go camping there's always a certain element within those folks that end up stirring up the honey pot.

Usually that is the result of drinking too much alcohol and possibly the addition of drug abuse.

Every time my wife wants to take our family and go camping I start wondering if anyone is going to get drunk and get lost in the darkness going for a pee break, fall into the camp fire, get belligerent and start a fight, do something stupid with a weapon, do something stupid with their own body (I've seen a guy get arrested because he got drunk and tried to copulate with a dog on a dare from his camping buddies - and the dog belonged to a different group of campers). There are lots of other things that happen on camp grounds that I probably haven't covered.

Personally whenever I went camping before we had CCW I went with a rifle and a shotgun in the truck. Now I go with that AND my EDC pistol which is on me every moment of the day except when I'm showering.

Its sad that someone had to lose their life because of one man's stupidity. I'm of the mind that people like the shooter in this story shouldn't see the light of day again and we as tax payers shouldn't have to pay for them to live in prison for the rest of their lives. That really leaves us with only one option (ok two options really but some people would say that sending our violent criminals to Mexico is cruel and unusual punishment - albeit I don't know if it'd be that for the criminals or for Mexico... Maybe we could ship'em off to Pakistan?)
