Why Fred Thompson left the Senate

That quote just makes me want to vote for him more.

Rumor mill says that he was being tapped and groomed as a potential, and the RNC hussled him around, campaigning and making publicity. So he got ticked off and went back to something that, at least, an environment where actors admit that they're acting.

He'd said it before:

After two years in Washington, I often long for the realism and sincerity of Hollywood. -- Fred Thompson, Speech before the Commonwealth Club of California

Good for a chuckle, meaningless as to any real reason I suspect.

So, you post a quote without considering posting the context of his quote?

Context: A humorous answer to the question" Why did you leave the Senate?"

Sorry, I don't know all the protocols for posting.:)

I think he meant it as a joke but it sounds like cynicism about the two things he does for a living. He probably wishes he said it differently cause it's confusing. If he doesn't like either, why does he do them both?

It was a good humored jab at Washington and Hollywood, and I'm glad there are some politicians who still can poke fun at what they do and who they are.:)

wow did you make a profile name solely for that purpose? I mean, it's not something like, "glock17fan" or "sw29" or "chucknorris" or something halfway meaningless like "applesanity." What happens if next week we find out that FDT actively maintains a ____ dungeon of kidnapped burmese orphans in his basement?

It was clever and I like it when they can quip but still, it's nearing Bush territory. Let's hope he stays away from talking about gynecologists practicing their love with women.

I do miss having a President with a sense of humor.

***Bush has a sense of humor, but unfortunately, the joke's on us.

About Thompson: I've heard that he's a Neocon war monger and just a more likable version of our vice president, Darth Vader. If he has any chance of being elected, I hope this isn't true!

Please. Comparing Dick Cheney to the fictional character Darth Vader silly and does a grave disservice to the talents, abilities and accomplishments of Lord Vader.

Fred Thompson often times says the right things and in the right manner, but I still don't trust him with the Oval Office.
