Why do you have AOL?

Yes, that's correct Legal and Political moderators. I'm asking members of TFL why they have AOL. I'm wondering why so many gun owners have AOL.

AOL is extremely anti-gun. Just read the following article.

Switch Your Internet Access to a Company That Supports Your Rights

SWITCH NOW!!

by Angel Shamaya
Director, KeepAndBearArms.com

Much has been passed around the internet these last few weeks about America Online's policy prohibiting all websites relating to guns from being "allowed" on their servers. Lisa Dean covered the issue well in her article entitled AOL Censors Out Second Amendment Rights. The Director of our gun-friendly Doctor's group, Dr. Bill Rogers, followed up with his Adios, AOL to express his own commitment to Liberty. Then Dennis Jackson put his cards on the table in AOL and Beyond.

But AOL's anti-freedom measures go much farther than merely prohibiting you from having a gun-related website on their servers. These folks take their members' monies to fund Marxism in America, currently being perpetrated by the Democrat Party.

A few examples of where AOL spends its members' monthly internet access fees

On September 27, 1999, AOL gave the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee $20,000. That money must not have done the trick, because they gave these same anti-self-defense folks another $25,000 on May 26, 2000.

On October 29, 1999, AOL gave $7,000 to the Democrat Congressional Campaign Committee. On that same day, with another check, AOL gave these people who want your guns another $10,000.

On October 8, 1999, AOL gave the New Democrat Network $1,000. Then on June 7, 2000, AOL gave these same constitution haters another $4,000. Then they followed up with a third liberty-choking check in the amount of $2,500 on June 28, 2000.
One of our members urged me last week to delete every AOL email address on any of our distribution lists. I declined, explaining that there are some people in remote areas for whom AOL may be the only option for logging onto the internet. But I understand his outrage when I stop and consider the fact that gun owners are funding the Democrat-Socialists of America.

What really bugs me is the fact that - while AOL is giving its members' monthly fees to help disarm the American people - we at KeepAndBearArms.com are offering Internet Dialup Service so we can simply make ends meet and hire some real help so we can build this grassroots effort, and very few have joined our Internet Dialup Service.

I guess our priorities are just different. We'll keep working every waking hour in lieu of our own personal lives to keep serving up empowering information - to gun owners who fund the Democratic takeover of America - and see how long we can last while money that could help us survive and then grow gets used to empower criminals through disarmament laws pushed by the Democrat-Socialists of America.

If anyone who is within the reach of our Internet Dialup Service but prefers to stick with AOL can please explain this to me, I'd really like to understand your thinking - so I can stop being mad at you.

I would not have AOL if they were funding free marksmanship programs in all 50 states, because from a technology and service standpoint they bit the big one.

I've had AOL for years because it's what I originally got and I hate the hassle of changing. I did switch to Pipeline once and had nothing but trouble connecting. Now, though, I have a groovy cable modem, so the AOL goes as soon as I get back from the beach next week -- need the AOL to be able to e-mail from the laptop.

Thanks for the prod ArmySon.

I have been meaning to make the time to change over to another provider, and a little ecouragement from a guy packing an AR is ...uh...er...positively MOTIVATIONAL!

ATT got dumped a couple of days ago. Now, for AOL. Doom on you AOL.

Thanks again for the boot in the posterior on this, ArmySon.

Duck Hunter,

If you got to keepandbeararms.com, you can get a free email account. That way you can access your email from anywhere.

I just did it: madison46@keepandbeararms.com

Good way to let the world know where you stand.

I have AOL because I travel extensively for work, and pleasure.

It is my back-up e-mail for my work, because there is an extensive network of dial-up numbers, all over the world.

I have tried other services (Earthlink and Juno Premium to name just two) but have not had good luck with reliability issues on the road.

It is not the optimal solution, but it is the best tool for my job, at the moment.

BTW, I am also an AOL shareholder, and write letters to Mr. Case about RKBA on a regular basis. He never answers, though.

When we go on driving vacations, I usually stop at the local library to check my email.

Lately, I've been running into a problem in that they will not allow email access, by using filters. I guess too many nuts were abusing their systems.

So, I switched my email to keepandbeararms as the filters usually don't stop those sites.

I checked out KABA Internet services, as I'd switch in a heartbeat, but the nearest phone number is still a toll. I realize anyone setting these ISPs up has to concentrate on the big cities, which is why I think you're not getting as many customers as you'd like.

DZ, Netscape and AOL actually don't get along very well....

Anyway, Netscape's new ownership hasn't done anything to fix the monsterous deficiencies of their horrid browser, which has seen virtually no improvement in a couple years. A lot of people thought with the new influx of cash, Netscape would finally get it's act together and make a browser that didn't totally suck.

I got rid of Acne On Line years ago. Just couldn't stand the busy signals when all the teens got home from school. I currently am using Voyager.net, which allows me to access my email remotely. But...on October 6th Roadrunner will be installing a cable modem!

So, AOL can kiss my skinny white behind.

AOL Sucks and I will not have them much longer when Mediaone steps in.

They will have a decrease in business soon as more competition comes in.

Had AOL first cause I didn't know better, now I do. Have earthlink and just finished installing a DSL hookup.

No more waiting to get online from 6 to 11 pm like AOL. No more pop ups and AOL taking over my 'puter.

I switched to earthlink from Compuserve when AOL bought cserve. I have been very happy with the service. They also have 800 numbers, which have a surcharge. Unless you're doing vast numbers of e-mails on the road, the additional cost is minimal. besides, shouldn't the company pick up the tab?

Didn't Time Warner buy AOL, or was it the other way around? Either way, it's just one more reason not to give them our money.

I live in a small town about 100 miles north of Houston. I checked around and found FIVE small Houston based ISP's that had local dial-up numbers in my area. They price range from 9-15 bucks a month and I can always get on-line. Sometimes the speed is not so great but all I have to do is disconnect and retry once or twice to get on at max speed. Even in the country like we are this stuff is often available if you look around. Ask the small town computer people who put those little ads in your weekly paper. That's how I found mine.

Hey folks, I just called AOL and cancelled my membership. I was a member for over three years. The pleasant lady on the phone asked me in a concerned voice why I was cancelling my membership. I told her that I was a physician and a responsible gun owner who really has enjoyed my AOL service, but AOL/TimeWarner's discrimation against law-abiding gun owners cannot be tolerated. She informed me that she had a concealed carry permit, and was a gun owner as well! She was very upset about this stand by AOL, and had not been informed about their policy towards gun owners! She processed my cancellation and told me three times that she would talk to her supervisor IMMEDIATELY about this! People, we can make a difference! If you own a gun, cancel your service and tell them why. We will make a difference if we keep a positive attitude and are polite.
