Why do we never hear about these?

I often read threads on this forum to learn about the different brands and models out there.

Generally, I tend to hear the same main brands generally referred to.

When I see a new name, model or logo, I look a bit more closely.

One store has some brands that are seemingly quite high end, such as Haenel from Germany, Rössler from Austria, Heym from Germany and Strasser from somewhere...

So what can you tell me about these companies?
Their strengths and weaknesses?
Their innovations?
Their reputations and performance?

I believe Haenel used to make air rifles but I don’t think they still exist.

The others are all artisanal gun makers with very limited output. They may have some samples at gun shops but basically you’re expected to choose model, caliber, stock size and engravings and then they build it for you. I think their average customers spends more time at the opera then on gun forums :p .

Heym is a very reputable rifle maker, once even producing BA rifles under the Mauser (Model 2000, 3000, etc) banner.

You could buy one with confidence.

Haenel was one of the Suhl gunmakers, made pistols and rifles. You hear very little about their products, they have been defunct AFAIK for many years now. Like many European gunmakers, they also marketed air rifles.

Heym is a very well-known gunmaker, make double rifles, single shots, and bolt action rifles the hand-crafted way like Holland & Holland and other custom rifle makers. Prices are not for the WalMart shoppers group.

Rossler makes hunting rifles, very modular (replaceable triggers and stock assemblies) and quick-change switch barrels (something that has proven to not be popular in the US). While not in the same price category as Heym rifles, they are nonetheless somewhat pricey when compared to US-made firearms.

Strasser is also from Austria, and makes rifles of a similar type to Rossler, quick-change switch barrel rifles for hunters.
