Why do I still use my Maglite?

I keep an old 2-Cell D Maglite next to my bed and anytime I hear a noise, power goes out, need a quick light, etc. I grab the big, bulky, dimly lit Maglite and head off.

At 27 lumens, this light packs a significantly smaller punch than my smallest EDC light, a 50/250 Lumen microsrtream, smaller than ONE of the batteries in my Maglite.

Sure, the thing can run for 8 hours with no problem, and I guess one could argue the heft of the damn thing is a weapon in itself.

Anyone else still use an old school Maglite or am I just crazy over here?

Get the LED Bulb for it. No sense in burning your batteries on the old xenon bulbs. The Maglights do make a great contact weapon. Just ask Rodney King! LOL The smaller lights might be more practical in case you need that hand for other things.

Beyond use as a club, I don't know why anyone still uses those old Maglights. My Streamlight ProTac (2XAA) cranks out more light than my old Maglight.

I understand the Maglights make decent hosts for serious LED conversions though.
