Something I've noticed about shotshells is that about 2/3rd's of them are ribbed and the rest aren't. Activ, Win AA and Rem STS arent', plus a variety of the clear hull buckshot and slug aren't either.
Is there any advantage on the user end of a ribbed or flat hull? I've noticed that the two most commonly used for reloading (AA and STS) aren't ribbed, and that most throw away promo shells are. Or does it just have something to do with manufacturing costs or style of the shell?
Sincerely,
Adam
