Why did the HK UCP never actually work out?

The HK UPC was cancelled although the MP7 turned out to be quite a success. Of course, a PDW caliber is as such designed around SMG-sized platforms, all the same the FiveSeveN gave proof that it IS possible to use such a round in a pistol...
 
HK UPC??

Are you referring to the prototype HK P47, the companion pistol to the MP7? If so, HK only said they were not 100% pleased with the performance of the pistol and the round. Works great in the larger MP7 but not in the shorter barrel apparently.
