Why Concealed Carry in Church is Important

I don't know of any prohibition against concealed carry at my church. If there is one, it isn't posted and it isn't published. Therefore, I make it a point NOT to ask if it's okay.

Co. does not prohibit CCW in church unless the church posts against it. We have a hired security team along with armed ushers and those CCW in the congregation. They also have some other items in back of the stage area if more "effort" was needed.

Different states have different concealed carry laws. In Michigan, I believe that concealed handguns are not allowed by law...it is not up to the particular church.

I believe in Georgia it is prohibited unless the Church makes a formal statement allowing it then Georgia Weapons License holders can carry.

Always. My pastor knows I carry and supports it. We've had cases where visits from unfriendly temporarily paroled ex-spouses were a possibility and the pastor specifically made sure I was carrying that day. Fortunately nothing came of it.

To be honest, I never thought much about it. Call it being naïve or just oblivious to the danger in such a sacred place. A few weeks ago I was talking with a young lady at work about concealed carry. It's not unusual to have these conversations there. It's a big company and for those of us that have been there for a long time. We know who we can have this type of conversation with. She mentioned that both her and her husband do carry at their church. In fact they have several people that do and make it very clear why they do. They will not be deprived of their freedom to safely attend the church of their choice and to worship the God of their choice. They do not infringe on the rights of other to do so, and they expect the same from others.

I respect their decision, in fact I applaud it.

Walking the spitual path with practical feet !!!

I have never understood why anyone would even make a church an exception. Yes, God will always be there to protect you but he still needs a little help, up front. .... ;)

Do you conceal carry in Church? You should consider it after this
A couple of years ago, this question was brought up, in our church and of course, there was no consensus. Finally, it was decided that no statement or action would be taken, either way. There are a lot of places where you would consider not carrying because it might offend someone. Does evil cares who it offends? . .....

Be protective and;
Be Safe !!!

I was told that the pastor had asked the congregation in Charleston to not bring guns into the church. Does anyone hear know anything about this? I know some priests and pastors that carry in church themselves.

I have COMPLETE faith in my Lord...its mankind i dont trust. So, i carry in church.

Unfortunately, this is a time of religious fanaticism and Churches are ripe targets for attacks. They are also a place that attracts some of the most troubled minds among us.

I will not give up my ability to protect my family just because im in a place of worship

South Carolina has some interesting prohibited places, and churches are on that list. It's illegal to bring a firearm into a church unless you have express permission from the leading person at that church.

Would it have changed anything in this case? That's hard to say unless there's some evidence that a victim or bystander would have been or might have been carrying otherwise.

At one time wasn't there a controversy about whether churches should have lightning rods?

Any church that prohibits guns should also NOT have fire extinguishers or emergency exits signs or carry any kind of insurance.

I personally don't care. Keep it deeply concealed. I'd rather have it and not need it than wish I did. I agree with the majority of the article. However the political crap I could have done without. Given our only choices were a guy that hates guns and a guy that claims to love them. Only problem is the guy that claims to love them gave us MA compliant weapons. Gun lovers were kinda stuck between voting for a vomit burrito or a poo sandwich

Churches and Hospitals are places of healing, they are the sanctuaries for the body and soul, entering them armed is a breach of faith with the Creater and the Healers. What is their Point if you cannot enter them without fear or by bringing fear with you.

Churches and Hospitals are just buildings frequented by humans the same as all other buildings, nothing inherently "magical" about them at all. Therefore, the same violent things can occur there also, and recently have. My concealed weapon does not threaten or "bring fear" to anyone in those buildings...no one can see it in my pocket.

I can only note that even Peter -- the rock upon which the Church was founded -- carried a sword.
Evil does love the Innocent -- especially the naively innocent.

carry in church

had this very discussion with a good friend yesterday. he thinks it is morally wrong to carry in church could not change his mind. i grew up in his church and told him if i went there now i would be packing or would find another church. unless posted churches are legal in tenn.

You bring your fear with you or you would not bring a gun into Gods house and that is not what our Place of worship is for, you leave your fear outside.

Through out history no man entered the sanctuary but that he did not leave his arms in the weapons house.
