Why cant I buy ammo though mail until im 21?

This doesnt make since to me because I can just go to a gun shop and buy ammo but the online ammo suppliers wont sell it to me unless Im 21.
 
Just a guess but it's probably due to some dumb @ssed B.A.T.F. law ?

Otherwise they wouldn't have a problem (age verification wise).

Easy answer. Because the law says so. And not some "** BATF law." BATF does not make laws (although they do make regulations). That law is clear and it was passed by OUR representatives in Congress and signed by OUR president. If WE continue to vote for these guys, or continue to sit back and not vote, we get what we deserve.

Bob 89 - You may not be able to buy mail order ammo, but if you are old enough to vote and don't, I don't want to listen to your gripes.
 
Some states strictly enforec laws about handgun ammo being sold to those under the age of 21.

When I was growing up in Jersey, you were supposed to be able to buy long gun ammo as a minor, but you couldn't get .22 LR, becuase of the large number of pistols chambered for that round...
