Why aren't pedophiles punished?

Everyone that I have ever talked to agrees that pedophiles are the lowest form of human garbage, yet they are continualy allowed back on the street to ruin more young lives. In Texas there was a POS that molested over 50 boys and only served a few years before being paroled. Why are they not punished, or exterminated, when everyone agrees how horrible their actions are? Don't give me that BS that they are "victims" themselves. I don't care about them, I care about the children they screw up with their perversions. Anyone want to comment?

True, you will get more time for hauling a load of pot, but even the anti's use the line "for the children". Why don't they go after them instead of us?
 
One of the biggest problems the justice system has is a bias based on social class and appearance. If you are clean cut, speak well, and have a little extra money, you will get less time. Most pedophiles fit this criteria perfectly. How often have you heard this arguement during sentencing "Your Honor, my client is a valued member of the community, this case has cost him his business, his reputation, and may cost him his home. He has suffered enough."
 
Here in The Peoples Republic of Massachusetts, pedophiles are protected adherents to an "alternative lifestyle."

A local man is accused of having, this past week, kidnapped and 10 year old girl, raping her, strangling her, and throwing her body in a dumpster. She somehow survived and identified the guy.

NAMBLA and the ACLU are probably already mounting a defense.

If you REALLY want your eyes to pop out, go to the Massachusetts News website (www.massnews.com) and read all about "Fistgate," in which gay activists used state money to hold school workshops for 10 year olds in gay sex, including "fisting."

Depends on if you are male or female too.Look at the teacher that had 2 kids by a what 13 year old boy.Didn't get sh** even after the second time.Reverse this with a 13 old female and its 20 yrs plus in prison.Double standard.

woodit, that is just wrong. I don't want this to turn into gay bashing, but I would be VERY upset if they tried to teach that crap to my son.

beemerb, I agree, the penalties need to be severe for both men and women.

This is not an "alternative lifestyle" this is about a power trip over little kids that screws them up forever. It needs to be dealt with a lot better. But, I'm preaching to the choir.

something similiar to this is why we do not
give the death penalty for child abuse that
results in death. Because its a child is it
not murder,? I don't know and dont understand,but kill an adult get the chair,
kill a kid get 1-10,while this may not hold
all time it does seem the norm. Is a childs
life more or less important then an adults.?

The best, most effective method of punishing this particular group of heinous felons is to surgically eliminate the true source of the problem, something we would never do in the United States, but something that is both efficient and just.
 
RWK, I like it, but I'm not totally convinced that it would work. I think most of the problem is mental with the physical being a side effect, but I could be wrong again.
I say that if they are convicted once then they get 40 years of HARD labor. Second conviction equals death.
Or, just put them in General Population in the pen and let the cons take care of them.

The only group which can create stiffer penalties is your own state's legislature. How many letters to representatives and senators have YOU written? How many other people have you influenced to do the same?

Tears of Rage for anyone who's been hurt by a repeat offender who had to be released to make room for a non-violent offender.
 
In order to go to prison for possession of marijuana, you have to get caught with more than five pounds of marijuana at least three times.

The first time nets you Deferred Adjudication. The second time you get Probation. The third time, maybe gets you prison time.

In order for a pot-head to get the same hard time as someone convicted of Indecency With A Child, the pothead has to get caught with over fifty (50) pounds of mota. (And it has to be his third felony, see above.)

To get the sentence that would be received by a critter charged with Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child, said doper has to get snagged while in possession of over 2,000 pounds (one ton, yes, ton) of mota. For the third time (see above.)

The biggest problem with pedophiles seems to be that there is no cure and as soon as they get out they WILL do it again. So in adition to incarceration an "attitude adjustment" is in order. Perhaps even radical surgery.

Surgery like castration doesn't stop the behavior. So if you propose it, you are just shooting blanks.

The cause can be a combination of genetics and environment but that hasn't helped coming up with a solution that allows them to go back on the street.

The only real solution is life long incarceration.

Simply get politically active and campaign for such laws. Better than complaining about it.

There was a time in this nation when pedophiles had short life spans. Since we no longer value life as we did in those days, pedophiles are not punished as severly. I am not making a stand against abortion on demand here. On second thought, I am. Since Roe vs. Wade, we have seen a drastic reduction in the value of a human life and it will only get worse until we cure some serious structural problems in the foundation of our society.

The worst is yet to come.

I have numerous times emailed the FBI about pediphile websites that I discover through occasional spam, or pop-ups that hit you going though warez sites. Frankly I don't know how they are going to do much about it when society as a whole doesn't give enough care to the matter. As for RWK's solution, it doesn't work. Pediphiles molest often times not even using their genetalia. It is a mental problem, and indeed for many of these people death would be quite an adequate solution. We must be careful not to make the punishment encourage severity though. If a criminal knows that it's life either way, then they will probably kill their victim to cover their tracks....

The workshop woodit desribes actually occurred. It was held on a college campus and was intended to teach homosexual teachers how to positively portray homosexuality in schools and help young homosexuals "come out" and deal with their orientation. There was a column about it on Jewish World Review a while back. I think it was by Michelle Malkin but I can't be sure.

Anyway, back to the pedophilia thing. My wife has a Masters in Counseling and spent some time moderating therapy groups for pedophiles. They will be the first to tell you they cannot be cured of their urges. The most they can do is try to control them, sometimes successfully, sometimes not. Many of these men have assaulted dozens, if not hundreds of children during their lives. What a just and equitable solution to the problem is, I'm not sure. The men certainly cannot be trusted near children and probably shouldn't be in general society. But the corrections folks can only hold them as long as the sentence allows.

Be aware too that there a recent move to normalize pedophilia. The American Psychiatric Association (APA) published a journal article suggesting that early sexual contact with adults could be beneficial for children and at worst did little harm. When word of the "study" got out the APA quickly backpedalled on the issue. Watch for pedophiles to lobby for an alternative lifestyle status over he next few years. On the plus side a group of parents of victims of pedophiles is suing NAMBLA. NAMBLA is the group who gave us the slogan, "Sex before eight, before its too late." This is a glimpse of the evil that lurks among us.

A final thought. Homosexuality and pedophilia are not the same thing. Some pedophiles are homosexual, many aren't. Sex between two consenting same-sex adults, whatever one's personal beliefs may be on the subject, is nothing like the sexual exploitation of a child.
