Why Are Walther Taking Soooo Long Shipping the P22

First they promised the P22 in June, then July, August, September, October etc etc etc

I saw the same thing with the Steyr M series. When it came out everyone wanted one, but everyone got tired of waiting, now I see one covered in dust in most every gun store I go into.

Why didn't Walther just keep their advertising in check until they actually had more than a handful to sell.

Imagine BMW doing this with a new model, I think not.

i.e. WHERE'S MINE AT HERR GUNMEISTER

I called walther two weeks ago and asked when the next batch would be in - they said next (last) week. I haven't checked back, but the guns should be on their way to distributors and then to dealers soon, if it actually happened. My dealer has my name to call me as soon as they come in, so I hope it's soon- before my money disappears elsewhere.

And another thing...

Only the target models had been imported. Apparently there's a problem getting the compact models imported because of the ATF.

I've had mine for over a month now.

Great little gun. Could use some work on the DA though.

As you already have one, a question re the compact version. Don't you just unhook the barrel extension on the target version and voila, you have the compact. I see two hex screws, isn't that their purpose ?

well, walther lost a sale due to the delay, at least for a little while. Went into the gun shop and saw a nice used browning buckmark standard w/ bull barrell that I didn't want to pass up. The recent taurus pt145 problems had me thinking it may be a good idea to let someone else break in a brand new gun design first before I hop on the bandwagon.

Plus, maybe by the time I scrape up a little more money they'll have the combination kits out.

Mike H, I think that you can take the weight off, but the barrel is not extended, it is a one-piece long barrel. I suppose that you could have it cut down to the compact size, if Walther ends up not selling that version here.

Mike,

No, its not that simple. The weight does come off, but the 5" barrel remains. If i had a 3" barrel, than yes, I could switch to the compact.

I've been told that the 3" barrel should be out by February.
