Why are they called insurgents? I prefer enemy, murderer and/or scum

Let me get this straight. People (only use in the enlish language) who kill our soldiers are called insurgents.

Wikipedia defines an insurgent as:
An insurgency is an armed rebellion against a constituted authority, by any irregular armed force that rises up against an enforced or established authority, government, or administration. Those carrying out an insurgency are "insurgents." Insurgents conduct sabotage and harassment. Insurgents usually are in opposition to a civil authority or government primarily in the hope of improving their condition.

Ok, perhaps by technical definition they are such. However, in reality they are the enemy. They are killers. And they are scum. Period.

It's a term picked by the media.

A large number of "insurgents" are not even iraqi, everybody knows they are sent from saudi, iran, syria blah, blah, blah. The media wants it to appear that the local population wants us gone, and some do. I call them what they are! Terrorist! So far they have killed more civillians than US troops, they have gained no love or respect of the iraqi population but they are the darlings of the US media, but thats my opinion.

The VAST majority DO!

Are you sure?

Put yourself in their position. It is clear that full civil war will erupt should the U.S. pull out prematurely. Do you really think that the majority of Iraqis want us out? If you are speaking long term... sure they want us out, but in the short term they don't want a full blown civil war and Iraq splintering into thirds.

I think if you did a nationwide survey you would find most Iraqis opposed to US occupation. These irregulars are finding support amongst the Iraqi people. They are getting fed and supplied.

If you open the poll link and go to coalition troops

13.2% support the presence of coalition troops
26.3% somewhat support the prescence
Somwewhat oppose 19.6 %
Strongly oppose 31.3 %
hard to say 9.6%

"But among Arabs, nearly one in five told the pollsters that attacks on coalition forces were acceptable. "

Eghad,

We all have that problem, "I think" ;) .

Without sources I doubt that you're going to get much credibility for your statement.

Edited: Just saw your "link", doesn't work. Also, just like the "polls" of the "people" in the US on guns and the "majority" say they want more gun laws, I will have to say, I don't trust polls, especially from the UK.

Again, what source are you drawing this conclusion from? I posted a poll stating the opposite, what's your source?

Try again I was editing...

The poll was done in Iraq..........not the UK

"Again, what source are you drawing this conclusion from? "

I posted a poll stating the opposite, what's your source?" I beleive in the link you supplied the poll was only conducted in Baghdad not across the country as a whole?

your poll link

Sixty-five percent of Iraqis polled in Baghdad claimed they want the U.S. military to stay until Iraq is stable and secure; only 17 percent want American soldiers out now.

my poll link

The poll company's director Dr Christoph Sahm, said Iraqis trained as interviewers travelled around the country to speak to randomly selected people in their homes.

The survey reflected Iraq's distribution of population, balance between men and women, and religious and ethnic mix.

Eghad,

And 75% of American citizens, via polls, think that all guns should be restricted, and that we need to pay more taxes.

Do you trust our own polls, let alone the BBC which is anti-American in the first place?

Give me at least three sources that state that Iraqies want us out, again, creditable sources, and maybe that will change my mind.

What about the Iraq newspaper? Those are now up and running, go to their sites and get me the polls.

my poll link
About 15% say foreign forces should leave Iraq now, but many more say they should stay until an Iraqi government is in place or security is restored.
Your link confirms my link, even more.

So I ask again, what source are you drawing this conclusion that most Iraqis opposed to US occupation, besides your obvious wish that it was true?

I call em terrorists and indigenious(sp) forces.
Indigenous
1 : having originated in and being produced, growing, living, or occurring naturally in a particular region or environment
2 : INNATE, INBORN
synonym see NATIVE
Does not apply the majority are outlanders

If the Iraqi people are opposed to the terrorists, why is it that the terrorists are able to operate in Iraq? If they are truly opposed, why arent they doing something about the terrorists? If nothing else they can get on one of those several million cell phones they have and report the terrorist hideouts that must be apparent to the citizens who live there?

Unless maybe the support the terrorists?

That is a logical question, is it not?
