WHY are the Republicans incompetent?

The Gore team is quickly convincing the public that Gore should be allowed to recount just those votes that are for Gore. So what does Bush's team do? Sue to stop Gore so Gore can claim he is the victim.

I am not a lawyer, but WHY are Republican lawyers and advisers so damn stupid? Didn't any of them realize that being first to file suit in this case makes them the bad guys?
Worse, they didn't counter demand hand recounts in the strongest Repub counties.

This is a battle of public perception, not one of object right and wrong. And as usual, the Republicans are the stumble-bums, lurching from misstatement to error to bad judgment call to losing.

It is not too late to change this and let Bush win on the basis of having gotten the most votes (Duh!), but unless the Republicans do some damage control within the next few days, Bush will have pissed away the presidency of the United States. Then we can have four years of Gore confiscating packing the Supreme Court and taking guns by executive order.

I'm disgusted.

It's the country club vs. the union hall. In a street fight, the guys from the street win. And, unfortunately, the plain fact is that Bush was a weak candidate. Good message, tongue-tied messenger. If it hadn't been that Gore was also weak, and that Nader was in the race, this would have been a Democrat landslide, probably with loss of both the House and Senate. If you don't think Bush was weak, imagine a race between Clinton and Bush -- absolutely no contest, a joke.

We need better candidates and smarter, tougher people in charge. I hope I'm wrong about all of this, but I think Gore can go ahead and rent his tux.

With all due respect Woodit, the perception from the public in America is that the Democrats are sore losers. Do not be fooled by the spin that the news media is spewing forth.

The Democrats were first to use the courts by backing up to eight lawsuits. They also hired a telemarketing firm in Dallas, TX to call elderly voters in specific counties in Florida and get them upset and worked into a frenzy. (Source: WFAA Channel 8 Dallas 11/9/00)

I was getting my hair cut in a Beauty shop yesterday when I noticed that every lady there expressed the desire for the Democrats to admit defeat and move on. Most of these ladies did not appear to be diehard Republicans although I did not ask for fear I might make the lady mad who was cutting my hair.

If anything, the Republicans have acted too late. The votes have been counted twice already and enough is enough. The Democrats have hand picked each county where the second round of recounts are occuring. Additonally, voter machines are neither Democrat nor Republican and at this time what we don't need are a bunch of predominately democratic election workers hand-counting votes.

The recounts have been done and all that is needed now is for the absentee and Service vote to come in from over seas.

Finally, the Democrats initiated the first hearing which will occur on Tuesday in Palm Beach County to deal with the validity of the butterfly ballot. It might interest you to know that the Dems had initiated another suit but when they found out the Judge had been denied a Federal Bench Position from a deciding vote by Demorat Congressman Joe Biden, they withdrew the suit. The hand recounts are being done in areas where all key election officials are Democrat. Bush wisely made sure that a machine recount is taking place simultaneously. Just because the Democrats and the news media have the morals and character of what is dumped into sewage treatment plants doesn't mean we need to. I am on the same page with you brother so don't take what I post as attempt to slam you. James Baker is as tough as they come and behind the scenes there are some very sharp Republican Lawyers fighting for us as we speak. Don't discount the intensity of George W. Bush either even thought the media would have us believe otherwise. Bush held off as long as he could. If he would have allowed the Dem's to keep Bull-Dogging their way around in South Florida it would curtains for us.

Republicans and conservatives tend to think that there are rules to be followed and a process that needs to be followed. So off they go and rely on the process. They keep getting slammed becuase the Democrats subvert the process so overtly, and then turn around and cry foul at the Republicans. I think the Republicans are waiting for the people to react to all this stuff. To you and me it seems obvious that this is wrong, but to a whole segement of the population the ends justifies the means. I mean what do you do? Do you conduct yourself within the rules, even when the other guy says and does the most outrageous things and gets away with it, Or do you start breaking ules and become like the other guy.

If we continue to act like we do, and vote like we do, we deserve to lose our freedoms as we are not responsible enough to keep them. I don't like it, but it seems the like the majority just doesn't care, and nothing anyone does seems to rouse the great unmotivated majority.

I know I sound pessimistic, but after the impeachment and then this I don't know how else to sound.
