Why Americans Should Be Mad as He**

As an American born and raised I am tired of the government doing what it wants and not what we tell them to......This thread is to get off your chest why you Love America and hate to see it going the way it is.....My major beef(as most who have read any of my posts know) are the gun rights of the American public being erroded like so much of the Galveston Beachfront. Even with the seawall(the 2nd Amm. in this analogy) we have still lost major ground.
If the government is allowed to pick and choose what portions of the most sacred document to enforce/recognize, are we any better off than with a tyrant/dictator. For if all rights are not sacred then none are....If we allow them to interpret away the 2nd what will be next? Those that don't belive in the 2nd ammendment might as well say that the entire document needs to be thrown out, which I am not ready to do! I am also tired of our intelligence being insulted as if the 2nd only protects hunting and the guns used for it! Sure the founding fathers wrote the 2nd with the intention of never having the American public be under foot of .......a. wild life , b. tyrants or c. any threat foreign or domestic....... Now think real hard 'cause you only get on guess! This is only the begining of my little rant trust me it gets better...... I happily await your responses :)

I think the problem is the "we" you mentioned. Does that we not include those voting in California, Massachussets and the liberals in the rest of the country?

The we in "if we allow". We have come a long way in the last 10 years, in as far as being united for the the common goal of protecting the 2nd and preserveing our rights.

No it inclues all Americans.......

As we must show a united front. If my rights are being violated I would expect every American to have a vested interest in what happens as rights are not a liberal/conservative debate(or atleast they shouldn''t be), it should be about conserving the righs we all have without jeopordizing the nation....The fact that the government in recent years has gotten more overt with their afronts to our freedom should wake up these sleeping Americans that have been luled into a liberal/conservative day dream where their political party makes all the choices and all they must do is be a yes man. The day that we lose the ideal of individualism as the core of American rights is the day we cross the boundries of Democracy into something very similar to socialism....which again I am not ready to do!

PS In those places that appear to have liberal slants California, Mass, and New York, and the like all but some have to see the error of their ways through the blood of their citizens and until they see enough blood then nothing will change in those areas......I would be quite interested to see a poll of the residents of a supposed liberal state(komiefornia would work) I will bet you the real Americans there(Not liberal elite whom can afford security gurads/systems) will all want their right to defense secured again!

When the proof of the failure of a law is so obvious and should be prompting those who supported it to re-think their position, instead they maintain it failed because it just didn't go far enough. So, more gun laws are proposed to reduce crime.........THIS time it'll work! The same mind set has expanded the welfare system for a couple of generations and thrown more money into the education system that teaches more poorly the better it's funded.

I'm troubled that most people are so apathetic. It is more important to know who won some hollywood award than it is to know which lawmaker consistently votes to diminish the freedoms our forefathers died to win. How do we ever change course if half the people on the boat don't care where it's going?

Just for the record, I would like to point out that while California has been viewed as hopelessly liberal for some time, it is not really true demographically. Statewide, the liberal/conservative breakdown is more like 55/45. What happens is that a few dense population centers, easily swayed by local "news" media, usually vote Democratic. Look at the map at the top of this page

http://p223.ezboard.com/fcurioandrelicfirearmsforumfrm43

that shows voting by county across the nation.

Because of our huge population, California commands 55 electoral college votes. This means that only a small percent of our state population contributes an enormous amount to liberal presidential candidates. To call this frustrating would be the understatement of the year.
