I'm torn. I don't like any of the front runners. McCain or Guliani that is. I hate Hillary, but don't love RINO's like "McKennedy" or Rudy. Once again, an election where I have to decide between the lesser or two evils. Maybe Mitt Romney? No one has become a clear choice to me yet. What do you think???

Thats a priority for me too. I also look for someone who will fight to preserve integrity, family values, and national security. Terrorists MUST be stopped. Illegal imigration MUST be stopped. Gay marriage is wrong. Abortion is wrong.

Well sparky that absolute faith you have in your opinions is what is going to get your gun rights lost eventually.Im not looking for a fight im just sayin that by being against those things you may be alienating a potential ally in the war on your guns. I think the government being in everyones biz ( drugs abortion marrige etc) is what is doing most of the harm in this country. Id like to vote pro gun but not if it means allowing further government intrusion into my life.

Right.

Let's keep the discussion to the candidates' positions on issues that directly relate to the Second Amendment and the Bill of Rights.

Bringing up abortion and homosexuality is a good way to get this thread closed.

Guiliani. The far right is already trying to say he can't be elected but I think they are affraid he will show how little pull they really have compared with a moderate or either party.
the problem with the far right is they are so demanding of their beliefs or else, they cut them selves off and hand the seats to liberals.

for example I grew up in Westchester NY. It is considered a safe seat for democrats because the hard right won't compromise. If the Republican candidate is not anti-abortion, they put up their own candidate and so split the anti-democrat vote. If the republican candidate is anti-abortion the more moderate republicans don't vote but they don't put up a 2nd candidate. As a result Nita Lowe, the democrat, is considered quite safe.

I'll vote for the canidate the supports the 2A the most, Period. ;)
I am glad you added the wink afterthat statement. I would hate to think someone would leave the fate of the country to someone they chose solely on one issue.

I am not sure who I am for...

I haven't seen a republican I like since colin powell and you saw how they forced him out.

Maybe Clark...

If I were to EVER consider voting for a major party (which I wouldn't while they rig debates, and pass laws to keep third parties out) I would vote for Ron Paul. Why?

Check his voting record, it speaks for itself.
He is a lifetime Libertarian Party member.
He speaks truth about the Federal Reserve, and the loss of rights.

So far, none of them.

The OP didn't ask just to limit our answers to gun issues, and quite frankly, I refuse to turn my back on all of my other beliefs just for one issue.

The only Republican who'd get me to vote for him over (most) Democratic choices would be Ron Paul. Not only would I vote for him, I'd be a grassroots propaganda machine.

The rest of them are in the same category as Hillary Clinton: Untouchable.

Homosexuality and abortion are just the carrots the politicians use to lure voters in. Since the status quo isnt going to change federally its useless to talk about them. That action is going to be on the state level. So for a presidential election its pretty much uselss to talk about since its eye candy for the masses. They use those issues just like the guy in three card monte to direct your attention away from other issues.

The issues that concern me for a presidential election are

Iraq
Terrorism
2nd Amendment rights.
Social Security
National Debt
Health Care
Education
Tax policy
Economy and the Industrial base.

Thats what I want to hear about not homosexuality or abortion nor religion.

Ron Paul. I may not agree with everything he says but he's the only Republican I've ever heard of that actually cares about freedom and liberty...pretty much because he's philosophically a libertarian.

Gun issues are important to me but so are all the other ones. For anyone about to tell me that I should ignore my feelings on gay rights and abortion, see my last thread:
