Just got my CCW in the mail. Took a few months for me to get it. It's such a better feeling while I commute around town. I don't drive a conventional vehicle, I have a 2005 Yamaha YZF-R1 (1000cc crotch rocket) with no doors for a barrier. Gotta love that Taurus 617 on the ankle holster, within 2' of reach with the aggressive seating position on the bike.

Congrats, I remember how I felt when I got mine. Just keep your cool (esp.) on the road and you'll have many years of legal carry ahead of you.

What a great country we live in!!!!!

[BTW, I didn't mean to imply that you'd lose your temper on the road, only that I remember feeling bit concerned about the inevitable road rage that happens on the daily commute. But, once I got comfortable with having the gun on me, I realized that getting mad at the guy who cut you off does not equate to reaching for a pistol. After that it became a non-issue. I'm sure you already know that.]

Ive been wanting my ccw, but i dont have the $110 it costs......ugh. Maybe after x-mas Ill have enough $ to send it in.

I ride also (VTX1800) and was wondering....which ankle do you have it on? If and when you plan on using your gun while riding "agressively", which hand would you use to shoot being that you need your right hand for the throttle. I guess you could powershift up and forget using the clutch but coming to that quick stop w/ the gun in your left hand might make it hard to use the clutch and make the bike stall causing you to dump your ride and or cause you to pull the trigger while squeezing the clutch. How would you practice drawing the gun at speed in traffic? :D : :D That would wake some people up :p :p

SWEEEEEEEET BIKE! Congrats on the License. When well informed citizens decide to carry for the protection of themselves and others it is very honorable.

Congrats on your new toter's permit!

Having a couple screws in my ankle from an unplanned encounter between my RF600R and an idjit in a Camry, I have to be a wet blanket and question the advisability of carrying a hard metal object strapped right to a bone on your bike. It's far likelier to trash your ankle in an accident that to ever be drawn in righteous self-defense. :o

I have also found that if you wear leathers, pulling the cuff up on leather pants/chaps is not as quick as reaching behind my back under my jacket to grab a gun.....I am still wondering which hand you would use to shoot while operating a bike, let alone re-holstering it while on the move at 80mph+.

Congrats... you know, of course, among the trauma teams, bikes like that have the nickname: donor-cycle... as in organ donor!!!

On a bike, especially a crotch rocket, it would be more advisable to just punch the throttle, or hit the brakes, then drawing at speed. Bikes have a huge advantage of power/weight ratio then cars do. Escaping is safer in most cases, legally and physically. I had a YZF R1, and that would move! and I never even pushed that bike hard. Got rid of it cuz of rediculous insurance costs for it, want another bike, but it's not on my hot list right now.
