Who Wants To Be A JPFO Member? Episode 2

This is a continuing contest. The object is to support RKBA in an entertaining and thought-provoking manner. The prize is one JPFO membership. Any TFL member may play. The contest consists of one firearm-related question. The winner is the TFL member who is first to correctly answer the question in a reply to this topic. I will announce the winner and close the contest with a subsequent reply to the topic. My decision, once posted, will be final; no appeals will be expected or desired. It is the winner's responsibility to provide me a postal address by e-mail so that I can mail a postal money order made out to JPFO. Kindly send me an e-mail if you have any questions.

Here is the question:

The 5.56x45mm FAMAS rifle is the standard military arm of what country?

Good luck.

only 20 minutes for a correct answer, that's pretty good

maybe next time you post, you could tell us a little about what jpfo does and whether there's any reason for non-jews to join or support them?

deguello:

Thanks for your interest; I'll do my best to answer your questions.

JPFO is arguably the most aggressive defender of RKBA in the United States.

I can think of 56 million reasons to join JPFO - see THE LIST here.

I welcome further discussion, if you want to send me e-mail; your address is not in your profile.

Deguello - Most of JPFO's hate mail comes from Jews. Their supportive mail comes mainly from Gentiles (like myself).

The Jewish community is, in general, the most hysterically anti-gun bunch in the world. These guys, Aaron Zelman & Co, are different. They refuse to be shipped off to the camps. They know what happens when a people unilaterally disarms, and they're determined to never let it happen again, unlike their sheepish brethren.

Is that worth $25?

George,

If you're not familiar with JPFO, I think you will enjoy the information. The "Grandpa Jack" booklets can't be beat. They are a great tool for RKBA. The Brasco Bear coloring book is a riot! I laughed my head off when I first read it. Great ABC outline for parents and teachers for a class unit on the topic of Liberty. My hat is off to Slowpoke Rodrigo for his contribution to liberty. Good job my friend.

Coinneach, I'm not familiar at all with the laws of Judaism. Do you or anyone else know if there is something in Jewish law that says you should not defend yourself? I guess I'm still trying to understand why there was little resistance before the Holocaust, and also trying to understand how Jews today can be so liberal. Of course, I'm stymied as to how _any_ American can be liberal.

Monkeyleg (no offense intended),

If you go to the JPFO web site, you will find the archives of "Ask the Rabbi." Many questions dealt with there concern the relationship of Judaism to the use of a firearm for self-defense. There is also a lot of very good general information.

What Ledbetter said.

In the Torah, there's a very strict injunction to self-defense: "If a man comes to kill you, rise up quickly and kill him first." However, that part is generally considered to be negated by the misinterpreted "thou shalt not kill" in the Commandments. Convenient, eh?

Thank you both for the heads-up. There is, as you say, a wealth of information there, and not just for Jews. I can add that to my sources for information.

I suspect that the Torah, and commandments meant, "thou shalt not murder". On the subject of arms, I believe that the Old Testimate admonished he that had no sword, "to sell his cloak so that he might purchase one".

It seems that Jewish communities of today may have learnt little, while forgetting much. Obviously, like any broad statement, it is NOT applicable to all, though it is to many.

Oh Yes JPFO - one of the most respected RKBA organizations in the country.
The website http://www.jpfo.org/ is full of good reading and a veritable flood of information.
I'll put up a link to it off my wee little home page.
I really could not say enough good things about JPFO...
But I can say - that question was too easy...

All:

The questions will become progressively more difficult in subsequent episodes, like a game show.

No lifelines! You may 'phone a friend,' just don't use AT&T or Sprint.

I plan to give away 20 JPFO memberships this year.

deguello,
I'm not a Jew but have been a member of the JPFO for several years. They have excellent resource material. Out of all the RKBA groups, I agree with their ideals the most.

If I'm not mistaken, suicide is considered a sin in the Jewish beliefs. Not defending oneself is equivalent to suicide, therefore a sin.

hey guys, thanks for the info and the links. i checked it out and i like it, but i have another question. i saw the letter about the two guys suing them for book royalties and trying to put them out of business. is this a bad time to send them any money? does anybody have any inside info about how their future looks or how much of a threat this lawsuit really is? at the very least i won't buy a book, but is all their other money gonna get tied up in court costs too?
