Who makes the best recoil pad on the market ?

Limbsaver, or Pachmayr Decelerator- 1".

Not sure if they make a prefit for your Ruger- which is the best WTG.

Grind-to-fits are best installed using a jig that will provide the correct comb and toe angles when grinding with the belt sander.

My personal preference is Pachmayr Decelerator.

45-70 isn't very hard kicking. Are you handloading for it? If so, you might want to reduce your powder charge.

Yes , I occasionally shoot handloads that are relatively hot in the Ruger # 1 which is why I'm looking for a better recoil pad ! I shoot mostly mild loads in my lever guns in the same caliber but like to work up hotter loads in the Ruger #1 ! Thanks for the suggestions...I'll check it out !

I also prefer the Pachmayr but not because they are "better" at absorbing recoil. It's because they are much easier for a do-it-yourself, grind-to-fit install.

Limbsaver baby!!!! Just to throw this out there, go buy the limbsaver in the winchester packaging at walmart. Same product, $15 cheaper. Also make sure to measure your butt stock because there are 3 sizes of limbsavers.

Gotta go with the limbsaver. Not only do they perform but they have an extensive number of variances in application. Their slip one are great for a range day or letting the wife/gf take a shot with the big boy gun but slip off easily to be stashed away during hunts. The limb savers are also very affordable.
