Who makes the best FAL?

I'd like to hear more on this as well...
I have been told that DSA/ Imbel was among the best, but I don't think DSA is using Imbel parts anymore?

It depends on how you apply the qualifier of "for the buck".
The best rifle is a real FN-FAL, but so few were imported that prices are very high, so they are the best rifle, but at a price. First you have to find one, & that alone can be a problem as collectors aren't parting with their "G series" examples easily.

If the low buck is the driving force than a Century. Yes a Century arms FAL. They have a terrible reputation, but there are some very good Century built FALs out there.

So it comes down to pay a premium price $8,000.00 or so for a real, actual "Fabrique National Fusil Automatique Leger", or a good (& you have to cherry pick to get one.) CAI/CIA for about $750.00 ~ $800.00. Splitting the difference is DSA's offering, somewhere round the $1200.00 ~1800.00 range, current production, decent quality, but currently hampered by switching to home made components & with an iffy customer service reputation as well.

Lets just say that my personal experiences with Century made products makes me extremely unlikely to ever purchase them again.:(
DSA has a LOT of great looking and high dollar options - why is the STG Austrian $5-600 cheaper, any idea? I wouldn't want one due to the metal handguard - here in the desert that would become a problem during summertime.
Any other makers?

DSA makes the best. They are not well received over at Falfiles due to recent qc issues but still offer the best quality FAL. There are several semi custom builders and forum members that can churn out a VERY good FAL. We're u looking for one? PM me if interested I have a SA58 Para

Yep you gotta get one of their older SA58 lines, awesome quality stuff, so solid built makes Arsenals and Colt feel like toys

I looked at the DSA lineup, and the SA58 carbine or carbine para looks like a winner, if a certain small miracle occurs. Ok, a few small miracles in a row.
What is wrong with DSA quality nowadays, and customer service?

Several years ago I built an STG 58 parts kit on a DSA receiver.I also bought some req'd domestic parts from them.I think they made a very good product at a reasonable price.

A friend built one on an Imbel receiver. His is a fine rifle, too.(his is on an STG58 parts kit)

I do not have experience with any others.

Where DSA is having to switch from milsurp parts to home made parts there are currently some teething troubles. This doesn't apply to older rifles, just the newer ones.
Examples:
Bolts snapping off at the extractor cut, making the rifle useless.
20-round magazines so out of spec they wont fit in some rifles & won't function in any at all.

Customer what?
Example:
I have a couple of the 20 rounders, I have had for a long time. Every time I ask if they have a working replacement yet I'm told "soon, soon". Meanwhile they are selling new 20-round mags to new buyers.:(

Eek. Maybe I should look for adifferent 308 rifle from a different manufacturer, then. Perhaps a DPMS Panther Arms 308...
