Who likes the xds 3.3 9mm and why.

I do. Fits in my hand beautifully with short or extended magazines. Aims easily and shoots softly and accurately. I could shoot it all day. Has a nice trigger. Easy to take down and clean.

Bought it as my first carry gun but it has square edges and the Ruger LC9S fits that duty better. It does work well with a good shoulder holster or OWB holster but that doesn’t work for me.

I still have the XDs to use in IDPA Bug Gun category. They changed the weight so it just fits the box.

My BIL has a XDS in 45 and one in 9mm as well. I have more experience shooting the 45 and it is a nice pistol.

When I recently came to pick a single stack 9mm it came down to a choice between the XDs and the shield. both are nice pistols

I have one.

+ fits smaller hands well
+ grip safety
+ Small, but balanced size
+ great sights
+ great magazines
+ solid loaded chamber indicator

- 7lb trigger
- poor grip in cold

I kinda like it. It feels bigger than it really is. I like the grip safety. Also the heavier trigger isn't a bad thing on such a small carry gun, though I'm less accurate with it than with lighter triggers. But it's much more accurate than a .380 Bodyguard! I'm leaning towards getting one and probably dumping the 380. It's just too small to use easily, especially under stress.

I think the XDS is a pretty capable little 9mm. I have the XD subcompact and love it, but it can get a little heavy when carried all day.

Love mine now that the PRP trigger kit is in. The little gun shoots right where i'm looking(which saved me from having to shovel money at Dawson Precision),It's crazy accurate with good reloads and is plenty comfy to shoot and so far 100% reliable. Money well spent

I was almost sold on this gun, this week when lo! I see that Walther now offers a $100 rebate on their PPS M2. It's the same dimensions as the XDS but the grip is far better and the ergonomics are sweet. The trigger is crisp and clean, much like an XD with a trigger kit. It isn't terribly lighter than the XDS but it is shorter with a better reset.

I can find the PPS for $400 or better. The rebate is compelling!!!

Lot of shooters like to compare the xds with the shield for some reason. The shield is a good gun but upon close inspection the xds just seems to have a better fit and finish. Guess there is a reason they cost more.

The grip, sights and trigger are all above average.
I find the grip texture to be a bit tough on the hands if I'm trying to shoot it for extended periods, but a pair of talon grips cured that. It's a nice pistol.

I would be interested in more discussion on this. To me:

Shield-
+ trigger feel
+ thumb safety
- distance from bore line to bottom of trigger guard is too big making the gun sit high in my hand.
+ price $250 OTD with rebate

XDs-
+ grip safety
+ fit to small hands
- heavy squishy trigger
+ sights by a tiny bit
+ mag quality by a tiny bit

I own a shield and the grip just feels to thin to grip to me. I just picked up an xds 3.3 9mm and the grip feels way better. I think it may be the texture of it it is more aggressive and just feels better to me. The trigger on both feel about the same with the shield feeling smother but the sights on the xds are way better due to the colored sight on the front but the shield sights are great too. Just my opinion

Thanks

I do. I've never had a problem with the 2 XD guns I have, so when I went to replace a PF9 I'd sold off, the XDS 9 was a natural pick. Never a problem with it, either (unlike the XDS45 I picked up last year (it's OK now, took a bit of work)).

You're welcome.

+Reliable
+fits my hand
+Conceals well and is still 9mm
+Nice sights
+Reasonable trigger
-slightly heavy compared to it's competition

Biggest negative is that Springfield tried to sell out IL gun owners and dealers.
