Am I the ONLY one that actually ENJOYS recoil/blast?
I really like shooting hot loads. I love my little 640 .357 hand cannon/flame-thrower.

That's why I bought a 2 1/2" S&W 629 (before S&W's sell-out.
When I was nine years old, I begged my dad to take me out to shoot his S&W Model 29 because I had seen an eight year old target shooting with a .38 in the local paper. I wanted to be just like my hero, Clint Eastwood as "Dirty" Harry Callahan by shooting "the most powerful handgun in the world."
We went that day to the local Fish & Game, and he asked me if I wanted to shoot it.
I hesitated and told him, "I don't know."
So he did what every great father has done to their sons to help raise them as men. He said, "C'mon wimp, I brought you out here to shoot this!"
So there I was, a nine year old boy holding a massive cannon with a .44 caliber, 240 grain bullet sitting in front of some H110 powder. I believe that was the heaviest piece of metal that I have ever held in all my nine years.
I remember he warned me not to pull the hammer back until I had my arms extended. (This makes an interesting story later on in life.)
After pulling the hammer to fire the Model 29 in single action, I squeeze the trigger like I did on the .22 Colt Diamondback.
Even with my ear muffs on, I heard the loud BOOM as the hand cannon lifted my arms up around a 45 degree angle to the ground. I handed the gun to my father who was grinning at me as I was rubbing my sore middle finger (I believe it was slammed into the trigger guard.)
Ever since then, the .44 Magnum has been my favorite caliber. Thank you Elmer Keith!
