Who has a Charter Arms .45ACP Pitbull?

somebody posted on here that they recently got one..... no chrono readings or anything.... but it looked very Charter Arms'ish....

I have a mess to straighten out, but when its all done, I will own a Charter 45 revolver. I have the Bulldog and like it.

One reason is I have many 45s already loaded up.

I think this pic of the rifling popped my bubble.

Don't know if it's a big deal or not, but...

I'm not sure what to think.

Did they make the barrel from a stack of washers?

Does it double as a wood rasp so you can sharpen your pencil?

Was the pic photo-shopped by Taurus to scare people away so they won't buy it?

Maybe the dingo tried to eat the pit bull?

In the picture, it looks like the cylinder is not counter bored or I can't see that far in.

After the last charter arms dealing I had, I will gladly buy another.

I have total confidence in their customer service.

I think they're using the .44 Special frame, so the cylinder's longer than it needs to be.

Their customer service is great. But, mine were in a total of 4 times (3 on the original, once on the the replacement they gave me) before I bailed.

maybe they just got a bad run of transfer bars...

According to the OP in this thread (from another website) the PB45 frame is 2mm larger than the BD 44 frame, and the cylinder is 2mm more in diameter.

The thread: http://forums.1911forum.com/showthread.php?t=455801

And a comparison pic of the new PB45 (bottom) and a BD44 (top). The most noticeable thing to me is the thicker top strap on the PB45.

I'm now the owner of one of these.

Feelings, impressions, reactions, etc?

What do you expect from a company who thinks Pitbull is one word?

You're the new owner of one....you tell us.

I have 4 Charters, all bought new within the last 5-6 years. I like em, and if I could get my hands on the 9mm or .45 acp version, I'd probably buy either one too.

Just the model name "Pitbull" has negative connotation for me. I have seen tools and things under this brand that were all cheap imported junk. It might seem strange to some...and I guess somewhat to me as well, but a guy has to develop some rules to live by in life. I have adopted a few along the way and stick to them just as a challenge to my ability to stick to my guns.
My rules of life are as follows:
#1. I don't eat blue food
#2. I never order any food called a #2
#3. I never buy anything described as "badass" ( sorta sound to me like low class).
I have been considering adding the Pitbull description to my rules of life...
I guess it's to each his own....

Mine is unfired (other than at the factory) and you can have it for $445 + $35 shipping. That's my FFL to your FFL. PM me if interested.

I'm going to email Charter Arms a little note with a bunch of pics with circles and arrows and give them a chance to make this right. The workmanship on this gun is pathetic, and I now believe that they must ship seconds to online dealers for cheap. I'll spare them anymore badmouth for the time being and give their CS department a chance to swap it out for one that looks and feels like it was made by people who make firearms for a living.

I bought a new 44 Bulldog just before last thanksgiving. The first day I was shooting some one elses reloads and blew the top strap right off the gun.

I called charter, told them what happened, they said send the gun in. I asked for a shipping label (they are $50.00) She asked how old the revolver was, I told her a couple days. She said they would replace it and they did.

I have shot that revolver quite a bit since. Zero problems. It fits into some of my J frame holsters.

I have an Aluminum Officers model an a match grade 45 ACP, would love their 45 revolver.

David

Edit, with out pics, it did not happen..

I think the "I was shooting some one elses reloads" part was the source of the problem. Did you admit to the company that you were shooting reloaded ammo about which you had no info or control? If you did and they still replaced the gun I am surprised.

Yes I made it very clear I blew the gun apart with reloads. I also included a letter with the gun when I sent it back saying the same thing.

They replaced it anyhow. Its pretty clear Charter is trying to have a great reputation no matter what the cost. The girl I talked to the first time is the daughter of the original owner.

For the gun and reloads, I know what happened now. This is not the place to hijack a thread. Here is the invoice they sent with the new revolver, no charge to me at all.
