I also posted this in the "smithy" section." I want to hard chrome an HK P7M8. I would like the slide "brushed" and the round areas matte finished. I want to be certain that the preparation of the metal is carefully done so that the symbols and lettering remian clear. Who would you recommend? Thanks in advance.

Look for MetaLife in Grand Valley PA (done P7s plenty of times) (814) 436-7747, MetaLoy in Berrysville AR (870) 423-4225 (they plate les Bauer's custom 1911s) or Accurate Plating in Florda (813) 449-9112.
Search for them here. I found them. My PSP was hard chromed by MetaLife 16 years ago and other than a tiny scratch, it still looks like new!

Gee jtduncan, what did you have to do to scratch hard chrome? Attack your pistol with a diamond. Others who have firearms experience with hard chrome are Armalloy (use to be on Dunlap St in Ft. Worth, Tx), and Checkmate, who do a lot of OEM plating. Whoever you talk to be sure to ask them about hydorgen embrittlement, Armalloy is the only company who addresses this on their website and that bothers me.

I have had very good success with my hard chromed P7M8 that was done by TJ's Custom Gunworks, in Ontario, CA... You can contact him Wed. - Fri. 1 pm to 5 pm and on Sat. 1 pm to 3 pm (Pacific Coast time) at 909.923.4422... His price might be a little higher than others, but the work he does is first class...

Also, do a search in this forum about P7M8 refinishing... That will lead to more info for you...

Hi Jwong:

Thanks for the tips. I emailed TJ and received a reply that he doesn't work on HK guns.
