Which would you prefer and why?

Asking for a preference between just two pistols. I don't want a Glock, or what kind of oil to use, just the preference between the DW CCO or the DW Guardian. Thanks for your help.

Which would you perfer and why?

I think either would be sweet and concealable...I prefer a 9mm. As for cleaning and oiling, I use Ballistol, since it emulsifies water and moisture on contact.

I think my next 1911 will be something compact and in 9mm. I’ve got a few full-size and commander models all in .45acp, so for me smaller size and caliber would be my choice.

However, from their WEB site it doesn't appear that the CCO is available in 9mm, so not sure either of your choices would be a good fit for me personally. However, if you're ok with .45acp I'd get the CCO.

Between those two I prefer the Guardian. The CCO doesn't feel as balanced with the Officers grip and Commander length barrel. The ECO is a better balance especially for carry.

I have owned both and carried both, sold the Guardian and kept the CCO. For what it's worth, while I still own and love the CCO, I now carry an ECO. That's my story and I am sticking to it!

There is an intriguing attraction to a nice Officer's size 1911.

But a Commander is obviously a superior defense pistol.

And the reason you carry a guns is?

Guess I should just be satisfied with my ECO. You're messing with my plan.

You do not necessarily have to be satisfied with just your ECO ... Get the CCO as well! I had a CBOB, really liked the gun but it was simply too heavy ... so I bought a CCO. Now here is a gun a guy could love for life. But I had to give up a round, so I sold the CBOB and a Guardian. To be comply honest, the Guardian never felt right in my hand while the CCO always felt great. So ... I sold the Guardian and bought an ECO ... and have been living happily ever after with both the CCO and ECO ever since :D

What was it that you liked the CCO over the Guardian?

A person cannot have too many Dan Wesson 1911s. They are all very nice. My favorites are the CBOB .45 and the Guardian 9mm.

The CCO seemed to balance better in my hand, the shorter grip made it easier for me to conceal and I shot it better. Every other DW I own I shoot very well, but the Guardian just didn't work for me. I have to full size DWs but never carry them ... a PTE-S and a PM-10. The Guardian just never felt right to me. It may work GREAT for you.

CCO is better sized for me to carry all day long.

Guardian would be nice due to front strap checkering and plus 1 round.

I have the CCO.

I have both --- the Guardian in 9mm and the CCO in .45. For carry, I prefer the CCO but not by much. I slightly prefer the shorter grip frame length of the CCO but the Guardian conceals well.
