Which sight for new AR ?

I need to put a sight on my new AR and it is between the Reflex II or the Aimpoint Comp M2. I have looked through the Reflex with the 6.5 moa dot and it was hard to pick up indoors and in bright light [I didnt try the filter]. It was also hard to look through into a darkened area because of the tint on the lense. But I do like the no battery feature and it is nice and small. If I get the Reflex I will go with a 12 moa triangle. I have never tried the Aimpoint. The sight will be used for general mayhem at 25 to 100 yards , I will pick up a Leupold Scout scope for under 200 yard precision work. I will use ARMS mounts for both. Which would you pick and why? Thanks , Mike...

I'd go with the Aimpoint....

Mike,
I have two orignal Aimpoint Comp Ms on two of my ARs. I like the Aimpoint because of the brightness control and the battery. I know Trijicon will replace the tritium when it gets dim, but what if they aren't around in 10 years or so. Or even worse, what if there are restrictions on tritium then? Also if it fails it means a trip to the factory and you're without the sight for a couple weeks or more. The battery goes dead in the Aimpoint, just drop in another. I would imagine batteries will always be available. The new Comp M2s have a new diode that runs for years on a single battery so the issue of having to remember to turn the sight on isn't there.

The Aimpoint is also more rugged then the reflex. The military bought the reflex for the M4 SOPMOD kits because there weren't enough AImpoints to go around then. Now they are buying all Aimpoints.

I have had both, the Comp M and the Reflex II. I agree with what Jeff posted regarding the intensity control. Can't comment on the ruggedness, as i have not banged around my units! however, I found it annoying to have to do three things with an Aimpoint Comp M: a) remove front lens cap; b) rear lens cap; and c) turn the thing on! I now have the Reflex II with 12.5MOA dot, and it works well for me. Just look and fire. Apparently, the CompM2 has addressed the battery issue. I know it's hard, but you need to find some people with both, so you can see what works for you.
