Hi guys,im after a bit of advice in regards to which projectiles to use for a 25/06 in the 115-120 grain range. It will mainly be for deer(fallow, red) and wild pigs.I already have some Nosler ballistic tips,Sierra gamekings and Hornady sst so could you guys tell me what you think of those three and also any others you think might be more suitable. And also im in Australia and wanted to know which hunting stores over there in the states you guys would recommend for hunting and reloading gear.Im just after somewhere with a big range, good prices and post overseas. Thanks guys

I use both 117 Hornady SST and Sierra Gamekings in our .25-06 rifles. It's sort of an either/or proposition, as both do well in our rifles. Any powder in the speed range from Reloder 19, Reloder 22, or IMR 4831 should give you good service for load development. I confess that I like Reloder 22 for that cartridge as it seems to like the slow-burners better. Both of our rifles are older, tang-safety Ruger 77s and they group a little better than an inch at 100 yards with both bullets. I haven't tried for any eye-popping groups from our rifles as they are simple hunting rifles, but I've been very satisfied with both the Hornady and Sierra bullets in the .25-06.

I agree with PAW-PAW,I use a MKII Ruger & the Hornady 117gr. SST's are my go too bullet.I dont do a lot of target shooting. But I do shoot a good number of hog & deer. The SST's work very well on game,I do use sgk 120gr.on some of the bigger hogs where a need for a little more penetration comes in handy.

Sierra's Game King has always performed well for me. Good penetration and expansion.

I get most of my supplies through Midway USA. Very competitive prices, very quick processing, and great quality control (no short shipments or wrong items etc.).

Sierra 117-120's and Nosler Accubonds in 110 have been working for me. I have some Swift A-Frames but I fear they might be better suited for a .257 Weatherby than the 06.

Thanks for that guys and some nice groups there Pawpaw.Im kinda glad you guys are recommending the Sierra's and Hornady's because they are much cheaper than the Noslers over here.Just out of curosity what are those bullets worth per 100 over there? We pay around $55 per 100 for the sierra,$50 for 100 of the SST and $35 for 50 Noslers. Thanks again guys.

Price for bullets in the USA

Evidently the exchange rate is almost exactly 1:1 for Australian dollars and US dollars.
Hornady 117 gr SST box of 100 = $28.99

Sierra Game King 117 gr. box of 100 = $26.49

Plus tax and shipping.:(
