Ok...I'm a pistol rifle kind of guy. I want a good over/under shotgun and budget is $1000.00. I saw a nice used sig at LGS but dont remember what model. It looked and felt great. Doe's Sig make a decent gun or no. It's either an aurora or SA 3. Help appreciated. Thanks. Oh yea...its for Quail and dove.

I don't like to be one of those people who doesn't answer what you're asking for, but I'm thinking right now that a number of people will suggest spending a few hundred dollars more than your $1,000 budget for a Beretta 68X or a Browning Citori. They are generally considered the starting point at which O/Us are very well made, balanced, and will outlast your grandkids.

That said, I know a number of people like their CZ doubles. Supposedly, those made AFTER 2007 or so are better than older ones. These will be around the $700 range. They may not hold up to thousands of rounds of clays, but it sounds like your gun may not need to.

I can't comment on the SIG. I've never seen or heard of one before.

The thing about clay shooters, whether they be shooting pumps, semis, or over unders is that I think they really take care of their guns. Because they do I would consider a used one, even if I have to wonder when people claim that a twenty year old gun has only had two or three boxes through it. BigJim says that is actually often the case and he knows a ton more than me about them.

Hey guys....today I found a used Beretta BL-4 in LGS for about 750.00. Looks nice with some minor scratches...bluing looks great. 12ga 26 tubes. Would this be a good gun to use for a few hunting trips a year. Will it hold up and can it get repaired by beretta if necessary. Thanks.

My two cents:
Look for good deals on used Brownings. In my case I lost my job after 2008 layoffs and looked for work 2009. I was forced to sell off the best trap gun I ever had. In a regular 25 shot round, I was hitting into the low and mid 20's as I have never done before with any other shotgun. The Browning I had sold new for a ballpark $1600 and I sold it for a ballpark $800 to $900. If you connect with people that were and are out of work, you will find people reluctant to renew gun club memberships and are not able to keep up with the same shooting pace. The fortunate guy that bought my gun was very well pleased.
