i have a ruger service six 4 inch barrel, i will be carrying it concealed until i can get a smaller gun. i have narrowed my holster down to two brands, a simply rugged pancake, or a pancake from lobo leather. which would ya'll get?, i just recently got my ccdw permit and don't know anything about concealment holsters. thanks for any help.

The one that fits your Ruger the best, The one that carries best and the one you like. Great choice in guns by the way, I like that series.

I suspect the OP won't know which one fits his gun the best or carries the best unless he buys both of them.

I do own a Simply Rugged pancake for my Colt Agent. It's a good holster. It's a wet molded holster meaning the a gun blank of a particular model is placed in the holster and soaked in water. This allows for a form fitting holster. I believe most custom holsters are made in this manner. I know nothing about Lobo.

It depends on whether you plan to carry concealed in waistband or IWB. The hybrid holsters have really come a long way and get my vote for comfort for in waistband carry. A Client turned me on to Hidden Hybrid and I haven't looked back since. I own Galco, Milt Sparks, and several others but love the comfort of the Hidden Hybrid. Everyone I have sold them to or recommended them to loves them. It can be worn inside or outside the waistband.

On another note, and perhaps you already know this, do not overlook a sturdy gun belt!

old Bianchi #6L ISW behind the hip, is very nice for lazy hikes in WA. Sometimes when prospecting rode in a Bianchi X15 shoulder holster, also had a Browning A5 as back-up with slugs and buckshot.
