Which one do I want?

Looking at buying another 9mm sub compact, I am torn between a Glock 26 and a HK P30SK. I carry a Ruger-LCP now but want the option of a 9mm. I own a Taurus pt111 9mm (no matter what anyone says it's a great gun) but it's a heavy sub compact. I like the simplicity of the Glock but I love the looks of the HK. So I'm just looking for people's opinion that own each or both.

I've not shot the 26 but I imagine it's quite similar to other Glocks.

I did shoot the P30SK and it's BEAUTIFUL. I shot the LEO option which had a DAO trigger, and probably the smoothest action I've experienced. The gun was very accurate and the ergonomics were excellent. Everything about that gun was impressive, and I believe the price reflects that--it ain't cheap.

If it weren't for the price I'd probably have bought that model. I instead got a Springfield Mod.2 which is very similar to the Glock you're looking at. All nice guns, but the HK is kind of a Mercedes parked next to a Volkswagen :)

Of course a Glock is a Glock. It will never surprise you or fail you.

Don't have a HK P30sk, but do have the P2000sk V3 which is similar in size
and I have the glock 19, and had a 26.

I like the HK and it is beautiful and feels good in the hand, but in my opinion and feel is a little more chunky than the simpler Glock.

Both carry about the same, but the Glock does feel smoother and simpler.
The HK is more elegant in theory, but the Glock is more elegant in actuality and function. Something zen about it's nothing more, nothing less quality. Boring as
hot green tea sipped on a warm afternoon.

I'm constantly torn between the two guns!:D

I never shot the HK. I do own a glock 27. Kind of to bulky for conceal carry, but I love the gun it is my home defense pistol by my bedside. I do always say every gun owner should own at least 1 glock. With that said I did go with the m&p shield 9mm for conceal carry with the safety. Worse case get both and enjoy them both..
Good luck

Having not shot the HK, I can't give you an opinion on that one.

The Glock was ok. Shot well. I just don't care for Glocks. I'm not saying they are not a good firearm, just that I don't care for them. I guess I shouldn't have gotten a 1911 first.

I have recently picked up one of the original Walther PPS. The one with the ambi paddle mag release.

Love this thing. For such a short barrel I can hit steel turkeys freehand out to 50 yards. Rested to 100. And I like the trigger much better than the Glocks.

Just me 2 cents.

Happy hollidays everyone!!

Glock 26 for the opposite reasons of you OP, the HK is way to busy looking for my taste. I prefer the plain, smooth slide of Glock.

They are both terrific pistols. It may come down to personal preference of striker fired or hammer fired or which one you shoot best. I have a P30SK LEM and am extremely happy with it. I like being able to put my thumb over the hammer while holstering. The Glock 26 overall is a bit smaller and lighter if that is a major consideration.

buy both, and you will be happier

The Glock 26 is the superior sub-compact in my experience. The hammer fired system gets to be a bit tedious when you reduce the overall length--and thereby the mechanical advantage of--the main hammer strut. Sub-compact hammer fired pistols often have very heavy, very long triggers. HK's LEM trigger somewhat solves this problem, but does so by having an incredibly long trigger pull. The Glock 26 has essentially the same pull as any stock Glock, which is to say more than adequate. Plus, you can get mags for cheap. The new Magpul GL12s are like $15.

Have never warmed to the Glock's. The p30sk fits me to a "T". Mine was a decocker model; could have used some trigger work; m/b even a match trigger. Not a bad trigger, but doesn't begin to compare to a HK p7 series trigger. "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder"; the p30sk is not "beauty" IMO.
