If choosing a 1x dot sight, which would you grab & why, of these two, for a short home-defense & 3-gun 12 guage:

1. Meprolight Mepro 21:

or

2. Bushnell Holosight:

the Mepro has the advantage of the F.O. reticle not dependent on batteries, but for home defense, there's not a problem checking/maintaing battery condition, and for 3-gun, it's not life & death, it's a game, so whaddya think? The Bushnell has a better price.

Well given the choice of those two I would chose the Holosight. It’s the same thing as the Eotechs just with different buttons and without that metal shorud around it. Definitely a fine well proven optic.

I just set up a HD shotgun and was going to put a holosight on it until I saw this. http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?saleitemid=910680 Usually $129 on sale for $49 I’m not saying BSA is the best optic but they get the job done and to get that type of optic for that price was just too good to pass up. When I got it I was impressed with it. It's larger than I thought it would be and sturdier construction than I expected too. The retcicles are bright (but I expected them to be larger). The only real problem I saw with it was that you have to take it off of the weapon to change the batteries in it.

Anyway Holosight is a good optic but I just I’d throw that out there too incase you are cheep like me.
