(I've already posted this at the forums at http://www.fnhipower.com/ , my apologies for those who've had to see it twice. I wanted a broader audience.)

Well, once again I'm thinking about buying a .357 Sig barrel for my .40 BHP. I used to have a Glock 33 and I really like the bottleneck round.

I've found barrels available from Bar-Sto (around $200, semi-drop-in), KKM (around $275 installed by Kurt Wickmann), Federal (around $90 drop-in) and some company called EFK Fire Dragon (around $150, drop-in).

Now, I know Bar-Sto and KKM make nice stuff (tho I've read some concerns about KKM). But . . . I don't need the most accurate pistol in the universe, just one that will make one hole at 30' (I figure that's good enough for me). And I want it to be reliable, of course, but with the .357 Sig cartridge I assume (correct me if I'm wrong) that this is pretty much a given, regardless of the barrel I use.

So, what can you folks tell me about these various barrel manufacturers? Anyone had any experience with EFK Fire Dragon or Federal .357 Sig barrels? Will they give me my 1-hole at 30' and save me a hundred bucks?

Thanks for reading and for your input.

The BarSto .40 S&W barrel for my Sig P-226 is simply excellent! I would highly recommend.

Bar-Sto has a good reputation.

KKM is a bit of a question mark.

Federal's drop in barrel sounds too cheap to be good. Wonder how loose it will be if it just "drops in" with no fitting.

Finally, when I hear a name like "Fire Dragon" I think they're trying to cater to the tactical mall ninja.

Me, I'd go with the Bar-Sto.
