That's not a mak, it's a FEG PA63, which is aactually a walther clone. I've never shot them, but I've heard some people that like them, some people that think it is a piece of crap. I'd say spend a few more bucks and get a bulgy mak.
rocko is correct. It is a 9x18 just like the Mak but the Mak is a much better gun if you're going to get one or the other. Great price though. I've got 2 Maks & was thinking about getting the FEG PA-63 just for fun. The trigger pull is supposed to be a bit heavy though and I saw some suggestions on the Makarov forum that you can do to lighten it up.
Search the Makarov forum at this site, search using "FEG" or "PA-63" and it should bring up some good info.
I have one of the PA63s that I bought on a whim. It does have a heavy DA trigger, but the SA pull is ok. This is an inexpensive pistol, but it's not a POS, that being said, I have heard from many others that the East German, Bulgarian, Chinese and Russian models are all made better overall, with the East German variations on top. I will probably pick one up myself, I like the 9x18 cartridge, potent in a small package, a bit better than the .380. My PA63 has not had any problems yet in a couple hundred rounds, shoots to point of aim at 7-10 yards.
Of course, YMMV etc.
Thanks guys... I wasn't gonna buy one , I just happened to see it and was curious seeing that it so cheap. On the other hand, it might be worth playing with for $89 bucks. Then there's shipping and the $30 FFL fee and tax..... maybe not.
Go ahead and shop around and find a Makarov and whoever said that the East German Maks are the nicest was telling the truth. I have two of them and they are fine, well made pistols that you can take pride in owning.
