I bought a used one at a gun show and it had a mag marked 88 on it in 308,but it wouldn't lock back on an emty chamber,so I told the dealer and he reached into his case and gave me one for a 100,but it was in 284 caliber. It seems to chamber and eject ok,but my question is what mags will work in the gun? do they have to be the same caliber as long as they are for the 100 or can you use 88 mags also? This is the first one I have owned and I sent it back to the factory because I remembered a recall on the firing pin several years ago and I haven't got it back yet.thanks. sj

If the 88 mag fits and feeds okay, it's at least usable. The lack of lockback merely means you have to pay attention to what you're doing, which rarely is a Bad Thing, anyway.
Caliber is less important than the overall length of the cartridge. For instance, since the .243 is merely a necked-down .308, the magazine won't really know the difference...
