Both the Desert Eagle and HK Mark 23 are bigger than any other semi-auto in the market. If you were to consider only the "intimidation" factor, which would you choose? Or do you have another in mind? :D

I voted for the MK 23, but only if it's got the Laser Aiming Module attached. Otherwise, it goes to the Desert Eagle in .50AE just by virtue of the huge hole in the business end of the gun!

Just for intimidation? A pistol version AR15 during full auto fire is just about as intimidating as it gets. That flash could make you wet your pants and singe off your eyebrows if it was directed at you. Looks good while just sitting there too. Course there are other pistols with better function...

The most intimidating gun is the little tiny one that comes out from nowhere, that you didn't even know was there after you had already let your guard down.

Creeps with tiny guns are also more likely to shoot you if they know you are armed, since the first strike is their only advantage.

The most intimidating gun is the one that makes a doughnut shaped, perfectly round muzzle flash. That is the one that has just been fired directly at you. Takes a heartbeat or two to figgure out if you are dead or not.

The size of the gun does not impress me, the attitude of the gunner impresses the hell out of me.

It all depends on the presentation. ;) But, a Mk 23 w/ all the goodies carried by someone specially trained to utlize its capabilities would be pretty intimidating

Desert eagle is a POS joke. I would be much more scared of the guy with the HK because he would probably know
what he is doing. The poser with the .50 doesn't know a thing about pistols IMO.

Hey guys, listen to this. According to MUNK, you too can go out, spend $2000 on a Mark 23, and you will know what you're doing!

I'm sorry, I've seen more posers with their high end Gucci guns (including many Mark 23's) that couldn't hit paper at 15 yards. I also have to repeatedly tell these same people to stop pointing their guns at me and others down the line. Intimidating, no. Scary... oh, very scary! Just remember, money can't buy you knowledge or experience. ONLY, hard work and training will. But I digress. The question was about the gun, not the shooter.

As for which one is more intimidating? I would agree with Apeach. It's almost shocking the first time you look at the muzzle and realize how big that .50AE hole is. It's similar in feeling to looking at the muzzle of a shotgun. And don't get me wrong. I like the Mark 23 and if I could comfortably get my hand around one I'd probably have one in my safe.

BTW, my friend has a DE .50AE (polished nickle too) and it has never burped a failure. He's capable of offhand one shot kills on boar at 50yrds and party ballons at 100yrds. He also keeps it very clean and that seems to be the key to keeping the DE running well.

How about this?
howdah.jpg

"A very impressive and gorgeous 12 bore (.75 cal) Howdah pistol by W. Greener, maker to H.R.H. Prince Albert. The barrels bear English proofs. All original finish. The action, locks and butt cap tastefully engraved. The butt has cap box ensuite. The steel ramrod on a stirrup hinge locking under the barrels. On the left side, a belt hook. It has a tiny bead front sight, and a V notch rear sight. Overall condition is excellent. A very fine collectors piece. Original percussion circ. 1840."

More intimidating?

None of the above. It's the sound of the action on my Ithaca 37. No need for any BG to even see it, the sound is enough.

The HK 23, because i expect that he person behind it is serious.

No offense inteded to those on here that own and love them, but after working at an indoor range for a few years, i rapidly came to the conclusion that many of the people that shot 50 AE Desert Eagles weren't serious nor much of a threat.

The bulk of the people that we sold them to and that i saw shoot with them considered them some sort of talisman of power and protection, and as a rule shot them very badly and slowly. We had a few shooters that actually practiced with them and shot them well, but most just liked being able to bring them to the range and scare the locals.

LAR Grizzly .45 Winchester Magnum...have you seen "Shakedown" with Sam Elliot...now that's one big mean semi-auto pistol!

Don't really have time to identify make of pistol if it's being pointed at you, you should be too busy moving to be intimidated.

Only time I ever had a pistol pointed at me in rage,... it was big enough for me to crawl into the barrel and I'm 6'1" 280.

So, I handed him the car keys.....

If it was a BB gun I might have noticed, maybe even a .22

Thinking back it was probably a .38 or .32, but damn that hole looked big.

I always thought with a revolver I'd look at the cylinder to see if he had any rounds in it, but I kept switching from barrel to his eyes, awaiting death.......
