Which is easier to conceal IWB?

Full size 1911 or Glock19/xd Service..

I've been into small pocket guns lately like the lcp/kahr cw9..But the more I think about it I feel somewhat under-armed..

I shoot way better with Mid/full size guns...So I would naturally feel more comfortable with my 1911 or my current xd (or my future g19)..

I don't have any iwb holsters, but I unloaded my xd and 1911 and stuffed them in my pants today just to get an idea of how uncomfortable they'd be..and to my surprise, I think i could definitely pack either of them iwb..I did notice that the handles printed pretty bad while sitting down, but again they were not in a quality holster/belt rig.

What are your thoughts? Anyone here pack a Mid size glock/xd or full/mid size 1911?

Edit-What are your thoughts on the Comptac Ctac holster? It seems ideal for the climate..and versatile adjustments..

I carry a FNX-40 IWB, it all depends on your holster, body type, clothes, etc...technically a 1911 has a thinner profile. But I prefer capacity. I've got 2 - 14 round mags plus 1 in the spout. 2 mags in a 1911 is half the capacity. I've also carried a SIG 229 and I love my FNX-40 so much more!

I carry a Glock 32 own (same size as the 19) and have no problems with just a t shirt over it if I need. A good holster will make a world of difference and keep that handle from printing a lot more cause it will hold it closer to your body.
Of course... Anytime you lean forward.. The handle may print. At least that's what I've seen when I just wear regular t shirts shirts. But since I have a bad back... I don't do much bending anyway. I will say... I have bought some of the covert carry shirts made by 5.11 and even tucked in the fabrics do great to resist printing even when bending! I was going to get a smaller pocket gun but realized the 32 works fine for me even on hot summer days in flip flops, shorts, and a t-shirt. I'll still probably get something smaller some day... But im in no rush anymore.
Get a good belt and good holster and I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

I'm not familiar with Glocks...don't care for em. So I wouldn't have a clue the size comparison. The only thing I know about Glock is all my friends who have them want my FNX after shooting it. It's a 4" barrel though fyi

I would think the G19 would be easier. It is marginally thicker than the 1911, but it's shorter. Unless you're wearing tight cloths the difference in thickness doesn't matter a whole lot, but the extra length always bugged me trying to keep a full size 1911 IWB.
But then, the Government 1911 wasn't really designed to be concealed. If you're buying new you could always go with a commander size 1911, but between the two I'd think the G19 would work out better.

Location on your waste and your weight/size come into play here in determining the best fit and whether or not your piece will print when you carry. In my experience (carrying in the 3 o'clock position-just behind the hip bone) printing usually varies based on the upper garment t-shirt or coat that I'm wearing. I haven't used the Comptac Ctac holster, so I can't speak to its worth as an IWB holster. I use a Blackhawk IWB when carrying my G19 and don't have any issues with it.

A full size 1911, though thinner than the G19, is longer in overall slide length and taller in design than a G19. To some people that extra length can be troublesome for printing and/or drawing. But again, body weight and build come into play here.

Even though I own a full size 1911 and a G19, I personally don't like carrying my 1911 or any full size pistol IWB. Mostly due to my short and slender frame.

I would say the glock. As much as width of the firearm is important for concealment, grip length I think is the biggest battle. Even with a forward cant a full size grip will show, especially when you are sitting or bending over. I am not a fan of the 1911 for carry, the compact models tend to have problems and I just am not a fan of a SA pistol for self defense.

Thanks for the replies...I couldn't call myself small by anymeans..6'/230lbs...

From what I can tell so far..a canted 3 or 4 oclock position would be ideal for me.

I also just got back from a few gunshops today and got to handle the G19 and compare it next to the xd9 they had there as well..The G19 just seems to be much "sleeker" and has a shorter grip and is not as tall as my xd.

Sigh..I wish I would have bought the G19 7 years ago, but based on hype I got the xd..(which has run flawless without 1 failure so far)..

So I've come to the conclusion that:

I am going to get the Ctac Holster and a Beltman Horsehide Belt..

Instead of getting the Kahr cw9 I will get the G19..I just feel more comfortable with the Glock system (no safety/15 Rnds/Longer Sight Radius)..

Now the only thing to decide is whether or not I should sell the xd9 to fund the G19..(kinda broke right now, but HATE selling guns).
