For a cheap semi-auto shotgun, which is best of the two in terms of fuctionality and durability. CZ or Stoeger. This is for general purposes, no specific application just want a Benelli but can't afford it.
Depending on what your budget is, maybe a used Remington 1100 would be something to consider, or an older Beretta semi - 302, 303 or similar. Both are excellent and have parts available if need be.
This is a generic answer, but it's often given because it's true: go with what fits you best. Although Stoeger is owned by the same parent company as Benelli, they don't fit me the same.
I don't generally like suggesting alternative guns if the poster didn't ask for it, but among less expensive semi-autos, Mossberg 930s are generally thought well of.
Very limited experience here but I have had both brands and my best brand is the CZ. Totally different types, but I did have an issue with the Stoeger I had and I have had no complaints about multiple CZ products.
I have a Stoeger 2000, and love it. I have nothing bad to say about it. I hunt waterfowl with mine, lots of shooting in harsh conditions, never a malfunction. They have the same inertia driven system as the Benelli's. I've shot everything from 1 ounce reloads up to 2 ounce magnum turkey loads, never a problem.
Sorry, I should've added that in. I meant nothing towards Turkish gunsmioths, as they have been building firearms for a very long time. Anyone who owns an Armalite AR-24 is using a good Turkish sidearm, for instance.
As for the army size, OK, though number of men under arms means nothing in referance to firearms manufacturing or quality, or the absolute best guns in the world would all be Chinese, all the time.
From talking to a guy who's brother was in the Turkish Army, I'd bet on the US in that hypothetical fight.
Man if you want a Benelli save your money and get one. You will be much happier in the end. I like CZ a lot when it comes to shotguns but don't own one. My 12 and 20 gauge Benelli M2s keep me happy. I saved for a year to buy the first one and another year to get the second. It was worth the wait. If not having a gun is keeping you out of the field see if a friend or family member will let you borrow one. As long as you take care of it you will have your fun and the gun you really want in the end.
