i am saving and june i'll be able to get a gun, i have a friend thats got two guns for sale and one i'll have to go to my local shop and get if i get it. my friend has a eaa windicator 357 mag for $250 still in box not fired, a rossi 357 magnum for the same price it been shot 20rds. both these guns are snubbies, the other one i was looking at is a heritage rough rider 22lr/22mag combo at a local store for $220. these are my choices and please don't say save and get something better, i'm on a tight budget and had to save nearly a year to get where i'm at now. thanks

id go for the Rossi

As described, ditto.

i'm on a tight budget and had to save nearly a year to get where i'm at now. thanks

I'm familiar with that situation.

BTW, it would help if you said what this was for. The Rough Rider would be a gun for casual plinking or light hunting. The snubbies would be for personal security. Neither would be ideal used for the other's purpose.

i was just saving to get another gun, it takes me awhile to get enough up to get one. i already own a taurus 357 and a heritage 22, but i would like another gun i have thought about more ammo but the gun thing keeps popping up. thanks

Don't know much about any of those guns but I just want to say Kudos to you for saving for the gun. Most people these don't save for anything. Got rid of my credit cards 3 years ago.

I to am feeling the pinch things are tight these days but I find it so much more satisfying to put down my hard earned cash after saving for a bit.

For learning to shoot on a budget, great for small game hunting, fun plinking games and western action shooting. I guess I'm the only one voting for the 22LR/22 mag Rough Rider.

limited budget

Since you said you are on a limited budget, it makes more sense to me to go with the .22 revolver. You will get a lot more bang for your buck with it. Lots of fun, more shooting, low recoil and noise. You will be a better shot with any of your pistols after all the practice you will be able to afford with the .22

It's hard to suggest without knowing if you own other guns and what you do with'm. If all you own is the 2 handguns maybe it's time to look at a light rifle or shotgun?

I would humbly suggest that you spend your money on reloading equipment rather than another .357 mag. You can get Lee reloading gear at a very reasonable price. This willallow you to put more rounds down range without breaking the bank.

shop around....Heritage Rough Riders seem to go for under $200 out the door in NE Ohio. I think even the Gander Mt store had them on sale a week ago for $149.95. I have never heard of any bad experiences with them myself. if you were looking at the model with adjustable sights, then that is a good price, but if the standard fixed sight version, it should be well under $200. Good luck!

I hate to be "that guy", but...

Yes, this is a revolver forum, I know. May I suggest, the Ruger P95? I've been dead a$$ broke more than once. I respect that you have been saved as you have.

New P95's can be found here in the Atlanta area for $279.00 and 9mm ammo is cheap.

Quality firearm, lower cost ammo, I'm just say'n...

Oldfart, I can understand that sometimes money can be tight and we have to make decisions as to what we buy. As you already have two fine handguns, so why not spend your extra money on ammo. Remember the finest handgun in the world is useless if you can't hit what you are shooting at, or even worse you are totally out of ammo.

Once you have your ammo start saving again and in a year or two you may be able to afford a different style of handgun.

Best of luck whatever you do.

Anything .22 lr is great for a person on a budget. As you already have a Heritage in .22, I would suggest you look for another gun. A Ruger Mark II if you also like autoloaders or a double action revolver if you can find one in your price range (Taurus 94??).
