From FBI gel tests (bare/cloth)in 5 inch 1911s:

185 GD 12/.68, 14/.68 (1040 fps)

230 GD 16/.69, 19/.59 (896 fps)

230 GD 13/.74, 14/.70 (847 fps)

200 GD +P, 12/.75, 19/.55 (1060 fps)

I like the 185; tighter groups in my guns. Does 980 in my USP compact, 1010 in my full size USP. The 230 did 800/825.

Just for comparison:

Rem 185 GS 14/.72, 16/.68 (1035)

Rem 230 GS 14/.76, 17/.69 (885)

Rem 230 GS 15/.71, 19/.73 (870)

Fed 230 HS 14/.71, 16/.66 (858)

Fed 230 HS 15/.71, 15/.64 (854)

200 gr. +P or 230 Gr. I have used both. I shot a deer one time that was supposed to be dead..... with a 200 Gr. +P Gold Dot.
