Which FAL would you recommend?

Bitten by the FAL bug! I don't want a Century gun, and have settled down to FALs from one of these three companies:

Arizona Expert Arms
Arizona Response Systems
DS Arms

Any comments, suggestions, other?

thanks!

I have a FAL built by ARS...it is an Austrian kit on a DSA receiver with Ironwood Designs furniture. Mark G. at ARS did a very fine job on it(especially the trigger). The Metacol III finish is superb.

2 thumbs up for ARS!

Is it true that both Arizona companies use used parts in their buildups? I assume that the barrels are only slightly used, but still, not new?

You are correct. Many parts are used, however a Steyr "issued" barrel may have only seen a few rounds through it, and there isn't a better barrel out there. Lower receivers generally don't see much stress, and ARS rifles are some of the best there is. If it was me, I'd have a custom rifle built to my specs from DSA new parts (which is pretty much what I did).

The DSA STG-58 Kit rifle. If you've got the extra $500 bucks then look at one of the DSA non-kit guns or one of the Arizona riflesmith's products.

On my DSA Kit I couldn't tell the difference between the Styer parts and the brand new DSA parts. The certainly had less than a hundred rounds though them it any at.

I bought a, well, junker parts gun and then had Arizona Expert Arms work it over. They did an excellent job. Even better than the quality of their workmenship was the quality of their customer service. I'd recommend them HIGHLY

I also have a couple of AZEX guns (a FAL and a BHP). Great quality. Extreme attention to detail.
Some of the "used" parts are mechanically perfect. They are from unissued rifles.
