Which direction removing fixed sight from Smith 645??

I noticed that my LPA adjustable sight has a direction it needs to be installed because it's slightly tapered. Was wondering if the Smith guns have a direction you are supposed to tap the rear sight out or that it doesn't matter. Thanks!

Gun is a Sonny Crockett approved 645.

Be careful; the rear sight retains the magazine disconnect and firing pin safety springs. They WILL come springing out as the sight is removed.

BTW this is a perfect opportunity to disable the magazine disconnect. ;) It's the plastic button. Simply leave it out along with its spring.

Thanks for the PM! Why would I want to disable the mag disconnect? You're sure it's under the sight on this old of gun? Thanks again!

Many shooters categorically dislike them because the pistol can't be fired without a magazine in an emergency. This is a popular complaint about S&W metal-frame centerfire pistols, almost all of which were equipped with one.
