which custom shop for a Browning High Power?

Hi all,

I'm looking into having some custom work done on my Browning HP. It's a 1982 FN (Herstal) manufactured blued beauty. It's my favorite auto, and I feel that with just a little work, it could be the best handgun I've ever owned (at least, for me). Here's what I want to have done:

Tightening the slide to frame fit

Installation of Bar-Sto barrel

Reduction of trigger pull weight to ~ 4-5 lbs.

Two layer finish; hardchrome underneath and either Black-T or Boron Carbide on top.

Anyone come to mind? I've alreay discovered Cylinder and Slide, but I was wondering if anyone knew of other (perhaps better) custom shops.

Thanks.

Novak's is the only way to go for the HP. They used to have the FBI HRT contract until the FBI switched to the 1911. They make a fantastic gun.

a great hipower site is at

fnhipower.com They might post the answer here too, but that group has probly forgotten more about the hipower than I'll ever know.

Don't forget to check out the historical forum. Alot of custom work was discussed there earlier and is captured in this section.

I haven't anti'd up the money to work on my practical, largely because I like it like it is (my mag disconnect sets in a drawer)
