Which bolt-action would you get for $1500 (before scope)?

So thinking about a new bolt-action rifle for this hunting season. I know this is a subjective question, but I just want your subjective opinion. What is currently the best bolt-action rifle I can get for around $1000 - $1500, before the scope. Either a 30-06 or 300 win mag. Here is what I am looking for:

  • Durability/Reliability
  • Accuracy
  • Future resale value (just in case)

Many Thanks,

Jerry

Jerry I would look at the nicer of the CZ rifles. I hear great things about the triggers and the wood is beautiful. I am betting this will be more to your liking than the savage line:D. I don't like the way savage rifles look, but I might get one after I get a CZ.

Winchester is building the best rifles at this time, but with a $1,500 budget I'd have a custom rifle built to my specs. On a Winchester action.

i would have to buy a savage and a good scope and still have money left or maybe a E R shaw custom rifle with is a savage done by shaw and still have $500 or so left for the scope :D

With that budget you could definitely get a really accurate Savage. But for that kind of money, I would want something that would look a little better. I would look at a Remington Sendero, great rifles and you basically never hear of an uhappy Sendero owner, mainly with Remington's lower end rifles that seem to have QC issues.

Or secondly the Winchester Model 70 Super Grade is a beautiful rifle. The new Model 70s have been getting stellar reviews.

Durability/Reliability

Future resale value (just in case)

Savage makes a decent, rifle that meets the accuracy criteria.

They are not known for "Durability/Reliability" and certainly not "future resale value".

Winchesters, Remingtons.... can be nice, but those are not really in the spirit of the question,

I'm not familiar with Nosler's rifles, and their website isn't working for me right now, but I definitely think they are legitimate answers based on what information was given by the OP. The Senderos would probably be $1100 OTD and the 70 Super Grade would probably be $1300 out the door. Both fit squarely in the given price range and are both known for being some of the best rifles you can buy that aren't custom or priced in the stratosphere (say.. AI for the tactical side or Blaser for the high-end piece of art side).

Savage is always great but for $1500 it would be nice to have that sweet Scandanavian Sako sexay styling.

i know you like them s's..

Anyway Savage is great. Sako might eb a little cooler to own tho.
