Which Beretta Model?

If you want a Beretta go for it. It's certainly a classy gun.
If you just want a shooter don't forget the Taurus 92 and 99 (the 99 has adjustable sights). They both have the safety on the frame. They don't have the prestige of a Beretta but IMhO they shoot pretty good.

I had a very early (1970s production, I think) 92 that was surplus from South Africa, IIRC.

It had a frame mounted safety and could be, if desired, carried cocked and locked.

Never should have sold it.

If you get a regular 92, Centurion or Compact, switch to a 15lb mainspring for easier DA pull.

And if you don't get a G model, add a G model decocker to the safety. This will simply make it a decocker, not a safety, and the lever will not stay down but spring back up each time it's used.

Otherwise, don't disregard the 8000 models, either Beretta or Stoeger. Well worth a look.
