Which Beretta M9 or Vertec?

tough choice!

I already own an M9, and love it. Having said that, I think the vertec is an improvement over the standard 92 series. In my hands, the vertec feels much more comfortable, since I have average to smallish hands. Also, there is a light rail on the vertec that is a nice touch. Your decision really depends on the prices of the two guns. Around here, Vertecs are kinda pricey when compared to my M9, which, by the way, came with a 15 round mag. Either choice is excellent, and there is absolutely no way you can go wrong with either!

the most important difference and deciding factor is how it feels in your hands. i already own a 92FS and have yet to hold a Vertec. i have smallish hands so if the vertec feels nice i might get one some day. the light rails are convenient and i already have an M3 (mounted on my Glock 19 for home defense). also if you plan to add night sights it's easier with the Vertec (once night sights for it come out, i hear Trijicons are soon to be released).

If you have an extra $200 to spend, try looking for a deal on an Elite II. A lot of folks ask about 92FS and I always give them info about the E2s though they never asked, because Beretta's webpage has no mention of them. Anyway, it has:

flush barrel with crown
Stainless slide and barrel
G decock only
Novak rear
Skeletonized hammer
D (DAO 92) trigger for a lighter 9-poundish pull instead of the standard 15-ish (?)
No lanyard loop
Bevel magwell
Rubber magazine basepad

Ammunition, endless hours of satisfaction and stupid grin not included.

IMO the Elite II is the pinnacle of the 92 series. The Vertec is a whole 'nother direction, which has some Elite features, but look out for Elite Vertecs on the horizon.

I have 1000's of rounds through my 92's w/ hands I would consider more medium than small :D . As I have mentioned on other threads, it is the design on which I learned to shoot. That said, I would go w/ the M9 in a heart beat (if those are my only selections). If you're not too concerned about the safety, Skunkabilly has a point re: E2. The Elites have a nice balance and pointability too them as well.
Being CA, I have yet to see a Vertec. Prolly won't see one until have the Shot Show in Feb. Honestly tho, the current grip is so natural for me and the accessory rail on the Vertec is a little unsightly  that I'd prolly stick w/ the 92fs/M9.
