Which barrel length for Ruger 22/45?

I'm going to get one soon. I really like the looks of the 4" barreller one, but is there much of an accurracy difference between it and the 5" barrelled version?

Greetings from Anchorage, I've had a couple P-4s and both were very accurate but lacked power at 50yds so sold them and got the 678s. A trigger job is about the only thing I change besides a good scrub with JB bore paste to polish the factory burrs out of the barrel. Good luck, henry

I have the short (3 1/2"?) barrel 22/45. The longer barrel models seemed barrel-heavy to me. Anyway, my gunsmith said there wasn't much of an accuracy penalty technically with the shorter barrel, but the sight radius is less. The accuracy on mine is better than me, at least at 25 yds.

Enjoy,

They make a 22/45 with the slabside barrel in blue. Davidson's is the wholesaler that carries them. If I were going to get a 22/45 I would get one of those. Price is right too, $229 at my dealer. It is tapped for rings but does not include them like the more expensive stainless MKII Slabsides model.

I've got a 4" blued bull barrel 22/45. It's just a great gun. Fun to shoot, cheap to shoot, accurate & reliable. IMHO the 4" is a great all around barrel length unless you want to concentrate on target shooting. It's not too big to carry around for plinking, hiking or varminting.
