Which AK to sell?

I have two AK style rifles, both Romanian SAR's, one in 7.62x39, the other in 5.56. I have a lot more mags, including a drum, for the SAR-1 (7.62), both have their original wood furniture in addition to TAPCO tacticool folding stocks. I also have a case of ammo (1000+ rounds) for both. I have had both of these rifles 10+ years and they spend most of their time in the safe. I have been bitten by the new gun bug and am considering selling one of these rifles to fund my new purchase, a Ruger GSR .308. Unfortunately, the gun budget has been exhausted for the year, so this is the only way I will be able to buy the new gun.

If you were going to sell one of these rifles, which would it be and why? I originally envisioned the SAR-3 (5.56) as a SHTF/Zombie Apocalypse/Alien Invasion rifle for my wife, but honestly it is too big and heavy for her and the trigger can be down right painful to shoot so I am going to go another route, possibly an AR style rifle, or a pistol caliber carbine down the road, so I am leaning towards keeping the SAR-1, but would like to hear some opinions on this. Please don't try and dissuade me from the GSR purchase, I have the steamin' undies for this gun and no amount of logic is going to deter me at this point, so telling me why I should keep both and not buy the GSR is going to fall on deaf ears! :D I know I am not the only guy to make an irrational gun purchase so try not to beat me up to much, just make your case for which AK I should keep. Thanks

5.56

If you must sell one for the GSR I would unload the 5.56 as it is an unusual caliber for an AK and it's not very easy to find parts for it. In the future if you want a 5.56 get an AR or Mini.

I agree, let the 5.56 go, and for the same reasons sailskidrive stated.

Hey, if we all didnt get those little bugs in our ears from guns just plaintively calling our names, how would we ever know what we now know? Let us know how you like the GSR. :)

Thats the way I was leaning too, keep the SAR-1, kick the SAR-3 to the curb and bring home a shiny new Ruger GSR in God's own caliber: .308!

Put them both up for sale and sell and keep the one that goes for less money.

Not like you really use either one. Making the decision on the merits of the weapon/calibers seems kinda silly to me. They are equally good at taking up space in your gun safe :)

Years ago, they got a lot more time out of the safe. My questions was aimed at determining which would be more practical/useful to keep for future use. The fact that I haven't used it much recently has no bearing on the discussion. I have over 2 dozen guns, not everyone gets out to the range every week. Not sure what is so hard to understand about that.

Sell them both, then go buy a Saiga 7.62x39 and your other gun with the money. Restore the Saiga also to it's original configuration.

I wouldn't sell either but if they were about to shut off the electricity or something I'd get rid of the 5.56.
