hello all,
if you wanted to build yourself a nice lightweight scout typed rifle for medium range hunting(100-250 yards) what caliber would you use? 6.5 grendel, 6.5 creedmore or 6.5 swede?

I ask because at the last gun show I went to I saw an amazing scout rifle built on a swedish mauser action and though the thing no longer looks like it was ever intended to be a MBR I still found myself captivated by it.

on the other hand I also love AR15s and it would not be difficult to build myself a 6.5 grendel and have another very decent rifle.

I know little about the 6.5 creedmore and just what rifles are offered in it and what price range but I figured I'd include it for the sake of science.

so looking at these choices economicly, practically and effectively what do you think would be the best option in a scout rifle typed hunting setup?

.260

It would be a relativley simple project to set a Savage 10 or 110 action up as a Scout in .260.

There are a bunch of Savage 110's in my area used. A new barrel in .260, drilled and tapped to take the Savage (B-Square) rib, maybe the big bolt knob, you'd be on your way to a 6.5 Scout.

Heck, the Savage Custom folks might just buuild you one flat out.

Me personally I'd go 6.5 Swede. It's a great cartridge for anything roaming around in my neck of the woods and I reload for it already (my deer rifle is a sporterized Swede).
