But my Handi-Rifle in .357 is very nice.
It's a no-frills plain Jane shooter,,,
It's consistently Minute of Tennis Ball at 100 yards,,,
I would expect the .44 Mag version to give the same performance.

It's not what you requested, but I would suggest watching for a used Ruger 44 carbine.
I can get under 2" groups at 100yds with handloads.
The drop with 265gr Hornadys at 200yds is 18".
That being said, all the moose & elk taken with this rifle were well under 100yds.

Odds are because both rifles are comparable in price($300), and come from proven manufacture, durability and accuracy will also be comparable. Get the one that trips your trigger.

44MAG is a revolver cartridge that does its BEST work inside of the 100 yard milestone. I speak from experience - this has been a favorite of mine since the 1970's. Initially, I hunted with a Marlin 1894 but traded for a Ruger 96 because of faster twist and deeper rifling to stabilize heavy bullets.
I recommend the Hornady XTP hollow tip bullet for deer hunting. This bullet provides rapid expansion and tears large holes through the vitals. I'm convinced that this bullet takes the 44MAG into much higher levels of lethality than mere paper charts would suggest.
My scope sighted carbines have typically fired tight clusters at 50 yards but groups open up to about 3 to 4 inches at 100 yards. This level of accuracy is not impressive but entirely adequate for big game hunting. In fact, this level of accuracy was common for many bolt action centerfire rifles 60 years ago yet trophies all over the world were taken without any fuss at all. I'm convinced that a good shot into the chest organs results in dead game and this is typically a (broadside) target of 8 inches or greater in diameter.
The Handi-Rifles are cheaply built to fill a niche market. Yet they're quite sturdy and reliable. But with practice the rough trigger can be mastered. Mastering the trigger is a large part of accurate shooting.
