Which 32cal short s&w Ammo?

I'm getting a mechanically excellent S&W 32, Model 3, 1-1/2 (top break). What ammo out there is safe to shoot? I'll eventually load my own with bp, but I want to "knock the new off it", ASAP. Thanks

I think he probably means No 1 1/2, Third Model (basically the old equiv of today's dash number engineering changes).

Those would be .32 S&W.

Ok, that's going to be 32-20. Ammo is available for it. Not exactly cheap tho and not available at Wal Mart.

I remember reading that Hickok was armed with only a S&W No. 2 "Old Army" .32 rimfire when he was killed in Deadwood. They were produced in the 1860s to early '70s and were popular during the Civil War.

I got in touch with Buffalo Arms this morning and had a nice chat with one of the folks up there. A S&W topbreak in good condition CAN shoot smokeless loads...although not recommended. It's gotta be 32 s&w sized cartridges specifically, made by both Magtech and Remington. The hazmat fee is through the roof, so he suggested I call Bi-Mart or Wal-Mart and have it ordered. I'm going to reload with bp eventually so I might just hold off on buying, "taylor-made", ammo amd invest in dies, shell's and slugs instead.......got plenty of fffg Goex on hand.
