Hi im think about a 22lr, like a m&p 15-22 ..or a ruger sr22 ..or a gsg...or something along those lines..any thought's on one over the outher..thanks

This came up on another site and I suggested an AR15 chambered in .223/5.56/Wylde and buy a 22lr conversion for it.
Don't specialize or restrict yourself if you don't have to.
Resale will be better, too

I know a lot of folks will agree with "thinkingman" and I would have probably bought a conversion had I already owned an AR in .223 or 5.56. But I don't and one of the main reasons I wanted a .22 was because they're inexpensive to shoot.

I bought the Colt/Umarex/Walther (whatever you want to call it) M4 OPS.
I've had it for about two years now and have never had any issues.
It's a blast to shoot and EXTREMELY accurate! :)

Hers a list of .22LR I would get. The Ruger 10/22 (Very Durable). Uramex .22LR M-16. And last but not least the GSG-5 (It is like a .22lr MP5).

This will not be a helpful thread for the topicstarter... ;)

Maybe if he would state it' s POU. Then we could narrow it down a bit...

I am currently an ISSC Mk22 owner. Not going to give you my blessing on that one (yet).
But it's an option.

Have a Cabela's nearby?

They just rolled out a beautiful Ruger 10/22 anniversary edition - with only 750 being made.

IMHO, it's worth it!

A few months back,,,

American Rifleman magazine did a nice article on several tactical .22 rifles,,,
You might find that on-line and read what they had to say about the different makes out there.

I found it kind of funny in one aspect,,,
They tried but couldn't find anything bad to say,,,
About the Mossberg 702 Tactical which was the least expensive one.

So instead, they damned the rifle with faint praise.

Seriously though,,,
I have two friends who bought the Mossberg,,,
Both of them love the little rifles and claim great performance.

I have a Mossberg 702 Plinkster,,,
It is the action that their tactical rifle is built around,,,
My rifle has over 5,000 rounds through it with hardly a mis-step.

I'm not saying it's the best one out there,,,
What I am saying is you should at least look at one.

They are lot cheaper than any of the other makes,,,
And if they perform as well who cares that it's "only" a Mossberg import.

Aarond

I havent seen the mossberg locally, i wouldnt mind checking one out though.
the price is appealing.

I have a ss 522 with somewhere around 600 rounds through it.
so far its great. its on the slightly heavy side for my son compared to the ar-15 look-a-likes.
if youre looking to accessorize it may not be as good a choice as some of the other .22's. but as far as the rifle itself, its great, build quality is good, handles well, breaks down and cleans easily, mags are cheap, its plenty accurate for a plinker/range gun.
